Please forgive me if this topic has been discussed before.

Why does everyone refer to their Pokemon as an it? Can't they check it out or ask Nurse Joy what sex it is? After all, where do they think baby Pokemon come from? Unless they are cloned like Nurse Joy & Officer Jenny. :cheeky: We have seen their eggs after all, May gets one next season, Ash received a Phanpy egg and helped hatch a Larvatar. Just curious.

Do you mean in the Anime, the game series or in general?

I believe in the Anime they have referred on occasion that a Pok?mon is a he or she though for the most part they do in there manner of speaking refer to them as its though they never directly says there its I think. As for the game series the same is true.

As for people talking about Pok?mon, well I usually refer to them as he's or she's as well as its on occasion.

For the Anime, they avoid giving genders to Pok?mon as much as possible. I guess the producers really don't want to confuse whether Pikachu is a male or female, or , the more likely case, stick with the original series. If you remember, genders weren't introduced officially until the Gold/Silver/Crystal series. (only exceptions at the time were Nidoran Male and Nidoran Female)

I think Nurse Joy has to preserve what dignity she has left...

And do we really want to know how eggs come to be?

(In other words, these are questions that really don't need to be answed, at least to the producers...)

In the anmie they haven't given any genders from what i can think of.

For some unexplained reason I reckon it's better without genders.
