Jade watched with interest as her giant bull pokemon sniffed happily around the bushes of Route 1. Tauros occasionally turned its head back to look back at Jade, making sure she was still by his side. When the giant bull blinked at her, she gave him a large smile, a rolled eyed and a push forward, eagerly searching the grassy route for a bttle.

"Toro!" Tauros cried suddenly, rearing back and waving his front hooves in the air. As it had been sniffing around, it had brought its snout into a deep hole where a pokemon had been residing. As Tauros jumped back with a pitiful snort, Jade noticed it had a red mark on its nose. Turning to see what attacked them, Jade grinned widely at the sight of a purple snake that was hissing angrily, body reared and ready for another strike.

"Ekans!" the purple snake hissed, mouth wide as white missles were released.

"Rosoo!" Tauros mooed loudly in shock, quickly lowering its horns in a quick defense. The incredibly hard curved horns hit the Poison Sting, easily destroying the weak missle like attack.

Jade sighed in relief when she saw that her pokemon was more startled than hurt. "Tauros, let's start this off with Tackle!" she called loudly, heart thumping widely with excitement at the prospect of her first battle.

"Tauro!" Tauros called, throwing back his mighty head with the same excitement as his trainer. Head lowered and eyes shining, Tauros pawed at the ground before charging, hard hooves bringing up dirt and leaves.

"Ekanssss," Ekans hissed, fangs bared and faintest hint of poison running down the sharp fangs. "Kans!" the snake roared loudly, impressing Jade at the loudness of such a small pokemon, before it began to slither at Tauros, actually having the gall to meet the large bull head on. "Knas!" EKans called, leaping up and wrapping its tightly around Tauros's neck.

"Rooos!" Tauros roared in pain, had shaking as it bucked and jerked in a desperate attempt to get the pokemon off.

"Tauros!" Jade called worriedly, eyes wide. "Q-quick!" she stuttered. "Try slamming Ekans into a rock or tree! Heck, start rolling around!"

"Toor," Tauros called with a snort of anger. As there were no trees, and despite its bulky body, the only way for it to be released was to actually start rolling around. "Ro! Ro! Ro!" Tauros mooed in anger, huffing as it degraded itself by rolling around. To their surprise, it actually worked.

"Ekkns," Ekans moaned in pain, quickly releasing itself when it could. With the hard ground and Tauros's huge body, it was easily crushed. "Kans," Ekans hissed in agitation, quickly rearing up before Tauros could get back up. With its huge body, it took it a bit longer than usual, and that was how Ekans took its chance. "Kaan!" Ekans snarled, mouth wide as the pin needles shot out of his mouth.

"Rossse!" Tauros roared, throwing back his head in pain, eyes closed as the Poison Sting pounded against its hide.

"Shake it off," Jade ordered roughly. "Get back in there and use Rage!"

Huffing, Tauros slammed its hooves to the ground, eyes giving off a faint dark glint as its anger rose, building up its Rage. "Tauroo!" Tauros roared, jumping forward, horns lowered.

"Kans!" Ekans hissed, rearing back and lunging.

"Hit it away!" Jade barked. "Don't let it get another Wrap!"

"Totor!" Tauros called in anger as the poisnious snake lunged. With a jerk of its head, Tauros hit true, and its hard horns slammed into Ekans right before it could arrange itself for a Wrap attack, sending it sprawling to the ground in a clump. "Roo!" Tauros called, not finishing there. Scooping up the purple snake, it smiled balefully and threw it into the air.

"Good job!" Jade congragulated, but her words were too soon. With an angry hiss, Ekans rearranged itself and slithered to the back of Tauros, a wise move as the giant bull was not a lithe pokemon. "Behind you!" she yelled, heart stopping for just a brief moment. "Tail Whip!" she shouted, only to blink in shock as she she realized she had used her instincts to call out that order.

"Tauros," Tauros grunted in shock, front hoof raised in shock from the burst of speed from the purple snake. Upon hearing his trainer's call, Tauros's three tails quickly snapped into action. With three tails, Jade mused, the chances of hitting an opponent was greater. "Toor!" Tauros snapped happily, absolutely preening as two of its three tails slapped Ekans back as it tried to reach up and give its backside a good nip.

"Kans," Ekans hissed in shock, body uncoiling as its defense lowered in fright.

"This is it!" Jade cheered. "Finish it with Tackle!"

Reering up on his back two feet, Tauros slammed his hooves down with a mighty call. "Taurooos!" With a loud snort, Tauros charged, head jerking to and fro as it came closer, giving the sign of the typical temprament of a Tauros just before it slammed its bulky head into Ekans, sending it sliding with a few tumbles back along the trail into the grassy sides.

"Kanss..." Ekans moaned, looking beat. Shakily, it tried to raise its head, mouth wide in one last attempt at an obvious Poison Sting, buts energy was out, and with a final huff, Ekans fell back, eyes shut.

"Taoro!" Tauros called happily, digging at the ground with pride before glancing back at Jade.

"Great job!" Jade roared, latching onto her pokemon in a gigantic hug on congragulations. "You were amazing," she said, petting his tan fur. Glancing over at the fallen Ekans, she bit her lip thoughtfully. It was a tough fighter. "What do you think?" she asked Tauros.

Tauros blinked before glancing over at the fallen pokemon. "Tor," Tauros said happily, understanding evident as it nodded.

Jade grinned and gave her pokemon one last pat before drawing a pokeball from her belt. "Your mine, Ekans," she said quietly, excitedly. Rearing back, she threw the pokeball with (in her mind) perfect aim. "Go!" she shouted, watching with wide, eager eyes as the pokeball hit the purple snake and sucked it inside with a bright red light. As the pokeball hit the ground, it began to shake, and all Jade could do was watch...

OOC: I'm literally going on vacation in like, two minutes, and I don't have internet there. Sorry, but I wont be able to post for about a week. Figures.

Carolyn took her first step onto an adventure of great proportions. She walked along the route slowly taking in all the sights and sounds of the pokemon around her. A tree looming over the path was filled with a flock of pidgey, which flew of in a hurry when Carolyn stepped under the tree. She glanced at a nearby bush to see a rattata, no, two rattatas asleep in the shade. Then she continued on the path at a faster rate letting her peripheral (I can't spell) vision take over the job of sight-seeing. Something caught her eye. It was a caterpie, and caterpie was a bug type, according to the pokedex, so it would balance out Carolyn's team a little. She was ready and wanted to capture it, so she called Ivy.

"All right Ivy, use tackle!" "Saur bulbasaur!" The tackle was almost dodged but Ivy changed course and it hit. Caterpie took a lot of damage, since it was young (lv. 2). Ivy stood proudly observing the damage he'd done, but then retreated to Carolyn's side. Deciding that she could catch Caterpie, Carolyn tossed a ball onto it and the caterpie was warped into the ball in a shower of light. The ball landed where the caterpie had stood and Carolyn tensed.

Carolyn watched hopefully, she wanted to capture the caterpie very badly. She knew that if she didn't, she could try again... but then maybe waste another pokeball. The ball wriggled once, and the rest was up to luck, or maybe just Caterpie.

wolfwhispers: Good post!
Jade caught a level 4 Ekans!

Rotom: Well thanks for telling me:) Sorry, it's not good enough for a Caterpie, but if you like you coulod try again:)

The Pokeball bursted open and Caterpie stood there, waiting to see what Carolyn would do.

OOC: Oh wow! A whole post since I left... I'm amazed.

IC: The pokeball opened up and the small, snake-like shape of the carterpie sped out. Carolyn was frustrated, she had lost a pokeball for that! Caught off gaurd Carolyn was unable to command a counter attack when caterpie used string shot on Ivy. Her bulbasaur was wrapped up in knots of web-like material. Thinking fast, Carolyn grabbed a sharp stone and sliced through the string shot. The caterpie was starting to make an escape.

"Oh no you don't! Ivy use tackle!" The caterpie was the one caught off gaurd this time and the move was directly on course, but caterpie stood and vengefully used a tackle of it's own. Carolyn was still frustrated, but not ready to give up yet, she really wanted to make her first capture. "Okay, Ivy, use tackle one more time!" The tackle missed and caterpie used string shot once more. Carolyn ground her teeth and picked up the sharp stone again. To her astonishment, Ivy was more frustrated and burst through the sticky string and charged on the caterpie with a spectacular tackle. Carolyn stood in amazment, but began to take action when the caterpie collapsed. It was not fainted yet, but Carolyn saw this as her second chance to try and make a capture.

Carolyn threw the pokeball with great speed, but carelessly missed caterpie by a long shot. Embarrassed, Carolyn ran up to a bush where the pokeball had lodged and pulled it out. An angry pidgey crowed when Carolyn disturbed the bush so she stumbled backward, narrowly avoiding being hurt by the bird pokemon. Carolyn regained her balance and was relieved to see that caterpie was still vulnerable on the ground, lying limp. She realized that it was on its back and couldn't get up because of its short, stubby legs. Carolyn wanted to be sure it was a successful capture so she had Ivy use tackle one more time. The move hit as perfectly as possible, since the target couldn't move. Now, it was time.

The pokeball was re-thrown with less speed, but greater accuracy. Caterpie vanished inside and Carolyn clenched her hands into tight fists, if she didn't capture caterpie this time, she would retreat into another area of the path and head on toward Viridian City. For luck, Carolyn crossed her fingers, releasing the fist she had formed. with dismay she saw that where her nails had dug into her skin there were dark pink dents in her flesh. Carolyn calmed herself down by reminding herself that the minor wound would be gone in a minuet or two, as the skin had not been punctured.

Carolyn waited in anticipation as she turned her main focus back to the ball that contained caterpie, that is if the capture was a success. The ball shook once, twice, Carolyn squeezed her hand that didn't have crossed fingers tighter, as she often did when she was under pressure. For the second time, she waited. And like most moments similar to this, time seemed to slow down, as if it playing a cruel trick on her. Carolyn could almost hear her heart beating.
