    Prologue
He stood on the top of a mountain, overlooking the city of Vermillion. In the distance, a ship could be seen sailing into the city. Several people were watching a Pokemon Battle between a Glalie and a Garchomp. Several yards from that, several construction workers were building a new Pokemon Gym for someone named "Surge" that was skilled in the use of Electric-type Pokemon.

He turned to his six-year-old son, who had long red hair, brown eyes, a black coat and purple jeans. The boy looked up to his father after playing with a small Weedle that had come by.

"You see, son?" the man asked. "This world is filled with creatures known as Pokemon. People are determined to use them to fulfill daily tasks and battles. But me…I see them as useful for something more. I see Pokemon as tools to conquer the world."

"They seem real friendly," the boy commented as the Weedle climbed up on his arm. "How can they be tools?"

The man smiled, grabbed a PokeBall from his pocket, and dropped it on the Weedle. After the small Pokemon was caught, the man handed the PokeBall to his son.

"You'll soon see, Mike," Giovanni replied. "Soon, the whole world will see."

OK, this is my first fanfiction on PC (not the first one I've ever written), so reviews are welcome. New chapters every Thursday!

    Chapter 1

    Five years later…

Brad, a Pokemon Trainer, stood at the peak of Mount Silver, looking over the regions of Kanto and Johto, of which the mountain bordered. Beside him stood his six Pokemon: Charizard, Pikachu, Beedrill, Luxray, Sceptile, and Umbreon. He was here to take a rest after a long day of training. Ever since he lost the Indigo League two years ago to his rival, Derek Oak, he had disappeared into Mount Silver to train to defeat his rival and win the Indigo League to have a chance to challenge the Elite Four.

He had not made contact with any of his friends, family, or anyone, really, save for an old lady that lived at the foot of the mountain. He went to meet her to gather food when he had run out and could not find more.

Turning to his Pokemon, he said, "We will rest here tonight, then get up bright and early for more training!"

Some of the Pokemon looked excited, while the others didn't. Brad frowned; that sort of attitude might cost him the Indigo League. He could not afford to lose.

After losing to his rival in a titanic clash, Derek insulted him, calling him "weaker than a Magikarp robbed of water!" Worse, his childhood friend, Katie, refused to be friends with a "weakling," for many people had faith that Brad would be able to bring pride to Pallet Town, and some had doubts that Derek would be able to accomplish victory. Derek lost to some cruel Trainer named Mike, who later lost as well. Brad felt he had brought shame to Pallet Town, and swore never to return until he became stronger.

As his Pokemon made themselves comfortable, Brad looked at the setting sun, sighed, and slipped into his sleeping bag. Several moments later, sleep claimed him.

    ----------------

Meanwhile, in Pallet Town, Derek Oak stood in the center of his house, while Trainers were approaching from all across Kanto and Johto to Pallet Town. The Trainer knew why: Derek Oak, Trainer from Pallet Town, grandson of Professor Oak, had defeated the Elite Four only a week before. Derek was to make a speech before hundreds of Trainers about his victory. He checked his PokeGear clock: 8:15. In another fifteen minutes he would have to make the speech.

Derek heard footsteps approaching and turned to see Katie approaching him. He smiled, and she smiled back. Two days after his victory over the Indigo League, Katie and Derek had gotten together, discussed recent events, and began dating.

I have the prettiest girl in Pallet Town as my girlfriend, Derek thought, I'm the Champion of the Elite Four, and everyone in the world respects me. Life is good! If that weakling fool Brad could see me now, he would be so jealous…if his feeble mind could process such an emotion.

To Katie, he said, "How's it going?"

"Great," Katie replied. "I just got off the phone with your grandfather. He said he'd be here in several minutes for your interview. Pretty nervous, huh?"

"I'm Derek Oak, Champion Trainer," Derek replied. "I don't get nervous. Instead, I am thinking of Brad's expression when he sees me on live television as Champion!"

When he mentioned Brad's name, Derek thought he saw a look of hurt sweep through Katie's eyes, though it was gone before the Champion could be sure. Instead, Katie said, "Well, see you later. I need to meet up with a few of my friends."

Katie walked off, while Derek smiled after her. Gathering himself up, Derek tossed his Blastoise's PokeBall into the air and called his starter. His companion for three years, Derek's Blastoise was his strongest Pokemon, willing to battle endlessly to defeat great odds for its Trainer, and it was that determination that brought Derek and his team to victory.

"Well, old buddy, it seems that things are looking up for us!" Derek said with glee. Blastoise smiled and whirled around when people began to try to enter Derek's house. They were reporters, trying to get a pre-speech interview. They were discouraged when Blastoise growled and prepared to attack.

"Thanks Blastoise," Derek said, pulling out his speech cards. He checked his clock: five minutes until he had to give the speech, and it was a four minute walk to the area where he had to give his speech. Derek placed his speech cards in his pocket and, motioning to Blastoise to follow, exited his house and approached the center of Pallet Town.

    Chapter 2

"Giovanni, sir, Alpha Group has arrived in Pallet Town, and are awaiting your orders."

Giovanni, standing before a large window that overlooked the mountainous area of Sevault Canyon, turned to face the Team Rocket Grunt that stood at the doorway. Once the Gym Leader of Viridian City, Giovanni had to hand away his position to a Steel-type Trainer named Howard due to the fact that he was rarely at the Gym.

"Tell them to begin Operation Revelation immediately," Giovanni ordered, smiling.

The Grunt saluted, turned, and left. Giovanni's smile grew broader as he thought, Soon, the world will tremble at the name of Team Rocket! It has time for us to reveal ourselves to the world…

    ----------------

"Giovanni has permission to begin Operation Revelation. Proceed under protocol." the Grunt said through a standard Rocket-issued communicator.

"Roger that," the Rocket Major known only as "Ruin" replied. Turning off his communicator, he turned to the seven Grunts under his command and said, "Alright, you heard him. It's time for Team Rocket to take glory! Devon, you take your group to Oak's lab, while the rest of you come with me to where that Derek kid is making his speech."

The Grunts rose from their hiding place near the gates of Pallet Town and raced off. Since everyone was at the center of Town, it was pretty easy to get through and arrive at their specified locations. Ruin and his group were disguised as civilians, and were able to sneak in unnoticed. Ruin checked his watch: 8:25. Five minutes until revelation…

    -------------

As Katie made her way across the path through Pallet Town, she spotted several men dressed in black suits race toward the lab. Curious, Katie followed them. She noticed that their suits had red "R" symbols on their shirts, and she spotted handguns in holsters near their PokeBalls.

Katie grew worried. If these men were carrying weapons, then they could be planning to attack the lab. She had to stop them.

Of course, she stopped when she felt a gun become pressed to her neck. Turning, she spotted a black-suited Rocket with grey hair and a Rhyperior behind him. She whipped out her Venusaur's PokeBall and glared at the Rocket. "Who are you? What do you want?"

"The name of my entire organization will be known soon, but you may know now. I am a member of Team Rocket, and my name is Vance. Please to meet you." When Katie didn't reply, he added, "The polite thing to do is give me your name."

    "Why would I?" Katie snapped.

"Because my Rhyperior here doesn't like impolite people," Vance replied. "He takes them, crushes them between his hands, and tosses away their corpse. So please, if you value your life, you'll give me your name."

    "How about this? Venusaur, go!"

The large Pokemon with a flower on its back burst from its PokeBall. It landed hard on the ground and glared at Rhyperior, who shrugged and glanced at its Trainer.

"Go teach this girl manners, my dear Rhyperior," Vance said. It nodded, walked over, and stood in front of its opponent.

    "Ladies first," Vance said.

"You'll regret that!" Katie snapped. "Venusaur, begin with Vine Whip!"

Vines shot forth from Venusaur, and the battle was on.

Okay, so, due to recent events yesterday (very busy) I'm going to post new chapters whenever I can, instead of being restricted to once a week. Chapter 3 may be posted tomorrow, or the day after that, or the day after that, and so on. It should also be noted that I'm not good at writing Pokemon battle scenes, so bear that in mind for the next chapter.

    As always, please review!

    Chapter 3

Venusaur roared in pain as Rhyperior tore into it with Drill Run. It was sent hurtling next to Katie, who checked on it. Venusaur was badly hurt, while Rhyperior seemed pretty much okay, save for a small leg injury. The battle so far had been taking place for three minutes, and her watch said "8:28".

"Poor little girl, being beaten like this must be hard on your reputation," Vance taunted. "Why don't you give up?"

Katie was about to reply when she felt hands wrap around her neck and lift her off the ground. She barely had time to return Venusaur to its PokeBall.

"We have located the lab," said a voice beside her, and turned to see two Rocket Grunts on either side of her, guns aimed at her head. She strained to turn her head, and managed to see that her captor was a Machamp. "What do you want us to do with her."

Vance tossed up a PokeBall and released his Regirock, given to him for this mission. "Knock her out. We'll take her prisoner."

The Grunts frowned, wanting to do some killing before the mission ended, but one of them turned and ordered his Machamp to knock out Katie. After it did so, Vance grinned and checked his watch. 8:29. One minute left…

    --------------------------

Derek took a deep breath. He was standing behind the raised platform that held the podium he would be speaking from. He checked his PokeGear, and realized that it said, "8:30." It was time. Unbeknownst to him, a Rocket was thinking the same thing.

Derek walked from behind the platform and walked up a few stairs, waving at the huge crowd of Trainers that turned up. Towards the back were a few members of the Elite Four, along with Professor Oak, his parents, and the cameramen. Derek flashed a smile as he examined the crowd, searching for his girlfriend. Unfortunately, he didn't see her, which almost made him frown.

The present Trainers screamed and cheered, and Derek noticed that the majority were girls. Derek stood behind the podium and took a deep breath. "Attention, Pokemon Trainers! Listen up!"

The Trainers all quieted down. Derek took a second deep breath, cleared his throat, and began. "I am Derek Oak, grandson of the renowned Professor Oak of Pallet Town, and now the new Champion of the Pokemon League! I have a message to all of you that…"

    "Silence, kid!"

Derek turned to see about twenty men and women stalking up onto the platform, all equipped with guns and PokeBalls. They wore black uniforms that had a red "R" on them.

    "Who are you?" Derek demanded.

"Didn't I say shut up?" the lead man snapped, shoving Derek off. When he rose off the ground, his hand went instantly to his PokeBalls, but a woman removed a gun from its holster and aimed it at Derek's head. "I wouldn't do that if I were you," she said coldly.

"Attention Pokemon Trainers! We are Team Rocket, the newest threat to your world, and soon to be its rulers! We are here on our first operation, which you shall not foil! We, and our group, will kill anyone who defies us. Bear that in mind for those who are either brave or stupid enough to try and stop us. Got it?"

The Trainers glanced at each other in confusion and fear as Team Rocket left the platform, firing a few shots into the air to install fear in everyone. Derek scowled and, when they were gone, ran after them. Nobody messed with him nor his town. Nobody.

Alright, as I said before my comment was deleted, Pokemon Legacies is going to be on hiatus until further notice. Why? Because I simply have no time for it. I am working on a stopmotion series on YouTube and a fanfiction on BZPower, both of which, when combined with school, eat up much of my time. Since my fanfic on BZP has many more reviewers and fans than Legacies, I chose to place the hiatus on this one. Note that I said hiatus, which means that I will not be posting new chapters for a period of time (at least, that's what I think it means). It means that I will post new chapter eventually, just not now. Perhaps I shall continue this when I wrap up the other fanfic (it has 50 planned chapters, and I've posted Chapter 30) or during the summer, when I have too much time to kill.

    Sorry guys.
