According to the game's description, Team Galactic scientist "Pluto" will be re-named "Charon" for the English game. Charon is the name of Pluto's largest moon. The character was probably renamed to avoid copyright trademarks or confusion with the Disney character Pluto (Mickey Mouse's dog). The same was done when "Team Galaxy" was changed to "Team Galactic" in America, since there is a cartoon named Team Galaxy.
Detective Handsome, as he is named in the Japanese game, is called "Looker" for the English release.
The Ruined World is also now called the "Distortion World," referencing the odd spacial phenomena that occur within it.

From pokebeach. The 3 dragons are called titans as well.

Pokémon Platinum - Coming to the U.S on March 22nd 2009!

Yes people, this is no rumor in the mill, this date has been confirmed by a leak made my Circuit City. Straight from the ad:

    Games Story:

As the story unfolds, players will encounter the mysterious new Distortion World, an area unlike any seen in a Pokémon video game before. The Battle Frontier area (first introduced in Pokémon Emerald) has been added to Sinnoh, containing five new Battle Facilities for Trainers to challenge, each with its own special rules. Players can explore the new Wi-Fi Plaza – a virtual Pokémon amusement park filled with activities, including three new mini-games where up to 4 players can compete at once.

    • Distortion World: As the story unfolds, players will encounter the mysterious new Distortion World, an area unlike any seen in a Pokémon video game before. The normal rules of time and space don't apply to this world, allowing the area to push the limits of the Pokémon game world. Players leap from pieces of land suspended in midair, walk sideways and even upside-down. The Distortion World, where the powerful Giratina resides, is somehow connected to the regular Pokémon world.
    • The Battle Frontier: The Battle Frontier area (first introduced in Pokémon Emerald) has been added to Sinnoh, containing five new Battle Facilities for Trainers to challenge, each with its own special rules. Each facility is run by one of five new "Frontier Brains" (characters that are similar to Gym Leaders). The new battle formats in each facility allow players to challenge themselves in new ways.
    • Wi-Fi Plaza: Players can explore the new Wi-Fi Plaza – a virtual Pokémon amusement park filled with activities, including three new mini-games where up to 4 players can compete at once. Up to 20 players from around the world can connect together in the Wi-Fi Plaza to experience games, take part in parades and even see a fireworks show.
    • Enhanced Storyline: New characters add to the story, including Charon, a new Commander of the villainous Team Galactic (who is suspicious even by their standards) and an undercover detective, codenamed "Looker," who is in pursuit of Team Galactic. Looker will help you throughout your adventure. Team Galactic has a new scheme– they've turned their sights on all three Legendary titans of Sinnoh – Dialga, Palkia and Giratina (all three Pokémon appear together in this game for the first time).

So who's excited about this release? Shaymin and Regigigas must only be round the corner though, so expect more news on those two very soon!

Seeing as Platinum will be released this March, we can expect to see Giratina and the Sky Warrior released earlier and Shaymin downloads soon. The upcoming Video Game Showdowns may finally be officially announced as well, especially if only Pokemon Platinum can be used in the tournaments (as is the case in Japan).
    Discuss!

Our threads most likely will get merged >_<
Anyway yeah im excited bout this

cool, sooner than I expected. I'll just've to pre-order mine from the US. EU ain't getting it till late summer as usual.

I got Pearl just after it came out in the U.S. They were all over eBay as soon as it came out for around £25 (That's what I paid for mine). Not only did I get it earlier than the rest of my friends, but i got it for cheaper! Seems like a win-win situation to me.

WOOOOOT! I was going to make a thread but i looked :D

    me smart.

    I CANT FREAKIN' WAIT.

YES! a month earlier the better...I'm so excited now...it's FINALLY coming...

But seriously PUSA, Charon is already a Trainer name... (1: Remember Red and Blue, Lavender Town, Silph Scope story? The irritating posessed trainers with Gastlys? Yeah, them. 2: It's a bad name anyways.)

Nice. When is it coming out?

Edit: Never mind. Saw other thread =3

What's up with Detective "Looker?" Who made that a name?

    Need I say more?

    fillllllllllllllllllller

...Excellent. Wasn't Circuit City going down the tubes, though?

What's up with Detective "Looker?" Who made that a name?

And "Handsome" makes more sense as a name?

    YES. March can't come sooner.

I wonder if they will start making Platinum the official game to battle on here. Seems kind of unfair, especially since i'd like to keep my 70% Hypnosis thank you.

XD But of course I'd switch if need be. I'm excited about the expanded wifi room; you could host a whole tournament in there in one day. Schweeeet. Provided battling/trading happens in there along with the mini-games and fireworks. O_O

*is British and for some reason refuses to import*

Good for the Americans though :)

That's really great news to here,I know this game will come around sooner or later, and it's worth waiting. I'm hoping it will have better graphics and stuff of previous games. Plus the characters got a total re-do with there wardrobe I heard.

^Why don't you want to import? Your not worried about your carbon emissions are you :P

And BrightFer, I take it you've been staying Spoiler free regarding the Japanese version of the game :P

Ermmm....you know what i don't know :nervous: Hardly have ANY good reason not to. Never know, i might do actually.

I did exactly the same with Diamond - a seller from Sheffield had about two dozen of them at least.

Not sure if I will bother with getting it until it comes out in the UK, given it'll probably only be a few pounds more.
