    Hey guys,

    First post here.

Does anyone know how I can trade between Pokemon Red and Pokemon Emerald?

I got Emerald and a GBA recently and bought RED to trade. But, it didn't work. Is there a way to get around this? I have two GBA. Mines and my nephew's.

My thoughts are that if I can trade RED with other newer games and those newer games are able to trade with Emerald, then that's what i will do. Any ideas?

    Like..
    Red>Ruby/Crystal/Silver>Emerald

    Thanks

It was 4 dollar only so I didn't waste anything.

So now, is there any other games RED will trade with? Besides itself and BLUE?

Between the 1st generation of Pokemon games you can trade between Red Version,Blue Version, and Yellow Version.

Between the 2nd generation of Pokemon games you can trade between, Gold Version,Silver Version, and Crystal Version

Between the 3rd generation of Pokemon games you can trade between Ruby,Spahire, and Emerald.
You can trade from Leaf green to Fire red and from Emerald to both.

4th generation games are Diamond and Pearl which you can trade with 3rd generation games and 4th generation games
(Thankyou for this info from Lugia Master.)

nope.On *pokemonelite2000 link removed* says you can trade from the 3rd generation games.
Thanks for the info. I edited my post and said thankyou and mentoning you for saying it.

Oh, well that stinks. So how would one go about catching all the pokemons?

and how about FR and LG? Are those 3th gen too?

I'm pretty sure you can trade between Red/Blue/Yellow and Silver/Gold/Crystal. Only the original 150 though... Fire Red and Leaf Green are considered 3rd gen.

Fire red and Leaf green are 3rd generation Pokemon, yes.
You catch them all by doing it and you trade between the games.
Remember: The creator only puts Pokemon that can be tradeable between it's generation. Whnever the creator of Pokemon makes a new game it only makes sepcific pokemon for the game that can be tradeable with it's generation<which I just said.

    Explanation, AHHH! HANAH MONTANAH!

Also Note That Firered & Leafgreen Would Be A Suitable Replacement For Red As You It Is The Remake Of Red And Green And It Can Trade To Emerald But Before You Go Off To The Store Thinking You Can Just Catch A Pokemon In FR & LG And Trade It To Emerald...Think Again....

Its More Complicated As To Trade From FR To Emerald And Vice Versa.
-In Emerald You Need To Beat The Elite Four And Get The National Pokedex From PROF. BIRCH To Trade With FR and LG.
-In FR & LG You Need To Beat The Elite Four Then Be Whisked To The Sevii Islands, Complete A Series Of Quests Their And Find A Jewel Or Sumin To Power A Machine On Island 1 Which Will Allow You To Trade From FR & LG To Any 3rd Gen Game.

Some Games Which Im Not Sure Which Gen They Go In But Im Guessing The 3rd Is:
Pokemon Collosuem & Pokemon XD: Gale Of Darkness
Both For The Gamecube But You Need To Buy Cables And Stuff And Beat Everything First.....

So Yeah I Hope The Above Helps....

Wow, I never realized it was that complicated. Thanks for the info..

So when the saying.. "Catch them all".. That's just the pokemon's in it's generation? 1, 2 and 3?
Because I would of think that it'll be all those together. Awesome, thanks for all the info, it really clears it up.

I never played FR or LG... but do they have the pokemons in the first generation? or the 3rd gen pokemon? I am assuming the first gen since its like a remake?

    Let's make this simple:

You can trade between Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver and Crystal. That's one group. Note that if you're trading between GSC to RBY you can't use the newer moves and Pokemon (so you can't trade Shadow Ball back to RBY for example, or a Murkrow).

    OR

You can trade between Fire Red, Leaf Green, Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald.

But not between the first group and the second group. So yeah, if you want the Kanto pokemon, get yourself FR or LG. Pokemon XD has a fair chunk of the Kanto set as well.

Thanks to Toothache for settling this out for the confused members.
