So… I want to make a hack based around the G/S/C games because I feel gen 1 and 2 designs get pushed to the side. (Also cuz Atomic Reactor recommended using the g/s/c games. :p) So my idea currently revolves around trainer Red. We'd see him on top of mount silver and he would be invited to re-challenge the Johto and Kanto region gyms and E4s.

Now this could work a couple ways. A normal run starting from the beginning with a much higher difficulty, or actually using his post-game team so you'd play the game with level 70+ Pokemon fighting leaders with 80+ Pokemon that give little experience.

Another idea I have tosses the whole exploration part out the window. Red would be invited to a tournament where everyone's attending, and you would basically run a gauntlet of battles. You would never have a set team though. Before each match you'd have to draft 3 Pokemon from 6 options, (given 2 at a time). All the leaders would be random as well, but it would be controlled. They'd get 3 random Pokemon from their pre-set group of like 12. (I also want this draft system to be a multiplayer thing, but I wouldn't know how to implement that. I don't even know how to implement everything I'm discussing now.)

But yeah, that's my ideas so far. I've started work on updating the graphics. I want to give the game a brighter, but also softer feel:

Here's the old colors on the left, and my updated colors on the right.

Here's the colors put into practice for day and night connecting New Bark and Route 29:

I've updated some characters as well (very slightly).
Top is the old colors, bottom is my new colors (like I said, brighter and softer):

And then this is just practice, probably won't add the other Generations until I get a very solid foundation going, but I tried to make Sableye in the Gen 2 design. (Traced the outline from the R/S/E sprite then colored myself. It's my first time so I didn't want to attempt a whole new pose at the start.):

But yeah, that's basically it. I love feedback so if people have opinions, let me know?
