Pokemon: Roeizek Redux

So I might as well post this stuff here. This is a project between me and my friend Shira.

I have been using RPG Maker for a while but never bothered to learn RGSS, so I post here hoping that someone will take interest in this project (well, someone already did, but his computer's borked) and offer to make a few scripts/help with general troubleshooting.

No screenshots yet, as I'm working on a set of custom tiles for Pokemon: Roeizek Redux (name temporary), and I'm gonna start making the game once I finish a satisfactory amount of tiles.

(Yes, I know how to work with Pokemon Essentials to a degree).

Story
2000 years into the future, all-out war has destroyed all but one continent in the Pokemon world. This last bastion of the human race is named Roeizek.
After a fiasco involving a powerful Legendary Pokemon and the 8 Temples, Roeizek's government banned the training of Pokemon (with the exception of government officials and law enforcement), making it a crime punishable by many years in prison or worse. Many children born within the past 20 years have never even touched a Pokeball.
You are a teenager born after the training ban. A few days after your best friend's funeral, you find a secret room near his house that leads deep into the earth. In this room are three Pokeballs.
Before you can leave, a police officer spots you with the Pokeballs. He tries to arrest you, but you resist and tell him it was a misunderstanding. The officer sends out a strong-looking Pokemon, and you take one of the Pokeballs, send out a Pokemon of your own, and attempt to fight back.
You are quickly dispatched of. The officer begins to handcuff you, when suddenly, he is knocked out. Behind you stands a woman, holding a modified Apricorn, along with her Pokemon.
The woman says that you owe her, and offers you a way to pay off your debt - join the Roeizek Rebellion...
