Pokemon Rust: Celebi's Lullaby
_______________chapter one
"Mom...!" Koda shouted, prying his thirteen year old face away from his mother's pinching fingers. "You're like a friggin' Krabby!" He rubbed his newly red cheeks before taking a step back and crossing his arms. It wasn't like he was actually angry, more embarrassed than anything. He loved his mom, of course, and no doubt he would miss her, but he was a teenager now, and didn't care for her babying actions.
"I'm sorry, It's just that... you're growing up so fast!" The obese woman cooed, wiping her teary eyes with a white hankie. Koda was a boy with orange hair styled up in a fohawk, that being a short mohawk without the sides being shaved off. He had olive colored eyes, and a face dotted with freckles. A gray t-shirt covered hisupper body, and a green and white striped hoodie covered that, zipped down just past his rib cage. Silver atheletic shorts fell down to his knees, and white sneakers swallowed his feet.
"I don't understand what the big whoop is." his sister, standing at right scoffed. "Pokemon are for little kids who just want to run away from home." At age sixteen, her biggest attempt was to look cool and mature, but she seemed to be more cranky thn anything. After rolling eyes and bitter goodbyes, Koda exited his small two story house and walked the eighth mile across New Bark Town to Professor Elm's laboratory.
Elm was the youngest of all Pokemon Professor's-- but an esteemed one at that. He was honored for his magnificent analysises in the Evolution and breeding of Pokemon. Koda could barely remember what he looked like-- the last time he saw hime was six years ago, at age seven, when his mother and himself went to the lab. His sister was going to start on her very own pokemon adventure, but due to the words of her friends and peer pressure, she decided to hault her journey before it even started, and turned her back on Pokemon forever.
Koda wasn't going to let anything bring him down. This was his journey. His adventure. His life. placing a sweaty, nervous hand on the doorknob, and closed his eyes, drawing in a deep breath. Exhaling, he twisted the knob and opened the door, tripping and labding on his knees in the building. He looked up, seeing all the lab aids staring at im. A bead of sweat ran down the side of his head. No turning back now... He thought to himself, and got up, running to Professor Elm.
Bowing his head, He muttered the words. "I'm Here for my first pokemon." An evident blush fluttered across the bridge of his nose as his mouth went dry. TYhen, Elm laughed. Oh great, now I'm being laughed at. he screamed mentally, but he dared to look up. Elm didn't look humored nor cruel, but kind and understanding. His eyes reflected wisdom beyond his years, and his behind glasses, complemented by dusty hair. Looking the doctor over, Koda noticed he was wearing a blue V-neck collared shirt, black dress pants and dark shiny shoes, overlapped by a white labcoat that stretched to his shins.
"Then why don't I give it to you." The professor suggested, causing our protagonist to anxiously nod and gulp. Elm lead the boy to a desk, where sat three pokeballs. "Now there are three for you to choose fro--" Elm was cut off by a sharp Crash! Looking to the left, Koda noticed a man dressed in all black had broke into the building through the window. He had a beret, and the insignia of an R was posted in red on his long sleeved t-shirt. "Team Rocket..." Professor Elm murmured angrily.
"Who's Team rocket?" Koda asked.
"How inconvienient," The grunt purred and he stepped slyly towards the two. "To find the professor here when I was told he was not going to be. Oh well, I'll make do." A snicker slithered across his curling lips. "Let's go, Koffing!" He threw a red and gray capsule in the air, a light escaped, morphing into a purple sphere. Apon closer inpection you could see it had a face, and small craters in in it that epelled gas. This, was a Koffing.
"Use smoke screen!" He exclaimed, a bit less snakishly. The Koffing squinted its eyes, pushing out black gas, filling the room with the blinding smoke. The Professor used his hand like a fan, waving away the smoke. When the room was clear enough to see, Both the Rocket Grunt and the three pokeballs that sat atip the counter were missing. "Stay here!" Elm commanded, running out the door. But to no avail; alas the theif had gotten away. "I was planning to let you pick from those three pokemon." The doctor explained, walking back into the building. "But first I need to regain them from that crook. You stay here and--"
"I'll go." Koda piped, braving the moment. "You need to watch all of the other pokemon in the lab. Just give me any pokemon, any pokemon at all, and I'll stop him."
Professer Elm seemed to ponder on this, then nodded in acceptance, walking into the back room to find the right pokemon. He walked back out, holding a shiny red pokeball. "This should suffice." He said. "He's very strong."
A hush fell over the room as He took a serious pause, and Koda waited intentively for his next instruction. "But if I give you this pokemon..." He whispered. "Can you habdle the task?"
Koda's eyes narrowed, his feet centered, his fist clenched, and his eyes showed flames of intesity. "I Can."
Stay tuned for the next chronical in Koda's adventure!!!
