Pokemon storage boxes?

Any chance of Niantic adding storage boxes to the game? It's pretty much impossible to sort our Pokemon with the current storage options.

I agree that something like this would be nice.

You get the same result if you just give people more markers/tags, and ways to filter for them. Favoriting a pokemon with a star is different because it mainly serves as a protection against sending away a pokemon that you want to keep.

I think what would work best would be the option to add tags, most simple would be predefined tags, which could just be colors represented by a little colored square, next to the star. So you could tag them as red, yellow, black, white, green, blue, purple, grey, and so on. As soon as you used one of these tags, you get the option to sort or filter for them.

The option to add a private note to each pokemon would also be nice. People use the nickname to store information, so you see "Vaporeon98" next to "lapras 151314". It sucks, the names need to be so short that if you put in the IVs, there is just enough space left to put in what moveset it is, or if it is a good attacking or defending moveset.

I think the best way to handle it right now is to give a star to every pokemon that you are not going to send away or evolve, to have no stars on the ones that you want to evolve next time you use lucky egg, and to send away the ones you are going to send away without evolving them. It is not much. It also conflicts with giving stars to anything high IV, or any other method of using the star.

Basically you really need to use the names and use the alphabetic sorting, but it looks ugly and its too tedious.

EDIT: adding more functionality on that front would purely be client-side, and the functions should just be on display and only kick in if you decide to use them, not increasing client-side hardware use unless the user decides to opt in.

Well, at least they now sort the eggs by distance and gave them color, so there is hope.

The egg colour is nice, but it is kind of pointless as its only an aesthetic change. I mean like storage boxes like we have the original Pokemon games, tags would work just as well though.

With color-based tags, you could just mark every pokemon you want to evolve and then send away with black and every one you want to evolve and keep with green and then filter or sort for that if you want to use a lucky egg.

Folders have the disadvantage that it would either not be possible or awkward to view ALL pokemon sorted by date or by CP no matter in what folders they are.
