Pokemon Team - Types?

What types do you recomment for a Pokemon Team?

My sister tells me that types you should use are:
Fire
Water
Electric
Ground
Psychic
Fighting
And if you have a double up type, you could chose a type of your choice (or maybe a Ghost/Dark)

What do you guys think?
And what do you suggest?

It is entirely dependent on the team in question. You need a combination of typing to create good synergy, so as far those specific types you listed, it's hard to tell if we can't actually see a team in its entirety.

Anyway, there's not really much to discuss here =/
