OK, i noticed this about a few months ago.....
i tested this with my starmie & salamence 3 weeks ago....
my starmie had elemental moves like surf & thunderbolt.
surf's base damage is 95, right? while thunderbolt is also 95, & there both sp. atk moves..
first, i used thunderbolt on a slaking, it did 1/3 the damage,
then i followed it up with surf which surprisingly did 1/2 the damage on slaking!!!(it wasn't even critical!!!<both the attacks!>)
in my salamence's case is different.
i used earthquake on a stantler & it did 1/4 the damage, then i used fly & it did more than 1/4 the damage!!!(as you know fly & earthquake are attack stat moves)
what i am pointing out is: does pokemon type affect the power of its matching move???
i just don't know...:\
try it.
