This is going to be an unstructured series of ramblings about a Pokemon game I would like develop as a fangame someday. I am just writing them down here to get them out of my head. I've been playing a lot of Fallout and Divinity lately so I've wondered a Pokemon game with a similar style of open world RPG gameplay could work.
Introduction
This game is set in the titular Untamed Wilds, an equatorial region not based on anywhere in particular but does exhibit shades of pre-colonial Africa and South America in terms of its design. Comprising of sprawling rainforests and desolate peaks this volcanically active region is largely untouched by civilization save for small tribes. That is, until three factions descend on the region, each hell-bent on claiming the land to tap its natural resources but neither willing to share. You are a native who is assimilated by one of these factions at a young age and grow up in the safety of their colony becoming old enough to receive their first pokemon. From there you find yourself swept up in the conflict of the Untamed Wilds and develop into the force that can tip the balance of power within the region to either faction or even allow the natives to reclaim their homeland from the invading blight. Whatever you decide to do, expect to make hard choices and sacrifices to achieve your ends because war...
War never changes.
Gameplay
In short Pokemon: Untamed Wilds is an attempt to adapt the Pokemon formula into a framework of more traditional cRPGs like Baulder's Gate, Divinity, and Fallout as well as most bethesda published titles. As well as catching and training a team of Pokemon for battle, you'll also create and develop your trainer through investing in skills and perks as they level up. But developing yourself as a trainer doesn't only mean being better in battle; You might want to spec into being a smooth talker who can deal with situations diplomatically, or a sneaky scoundrel who catches other peoples pokemon in snag balls, or maybe you want to snag the nearest Sylvally Suit and become a one man army. Play the way you want to play!
While not as expansive as the Paldea region the untamed wilds features a wide array of unique biomes as well as the various faction colonies to explore with sidequests galore!
There are also some core elements of pokemon gameplay I want to tinker with so I'll post them here when I have ideas.
