Backstory:
In the grim shadow of the Kuroi region, a danger looms that threatens the world itself...
The Kuroi region, located far to the south of Hoenn, used to be prosperous and joyful, but is now under the threat of collapse. Entire cities are burned to the ground on the whim of a power-hungry madman. Men who are outspoken about this tyranny are turned to protein soup by a powerful device called the Devolution Beam. People and Pokemon alike are exploited for profit and entertainment, and the region is defenseless against the immensely powerful Darkemon, controlled by Ripper, an organization led by William Hunt, a cold-blooded tyrant who would sooner burn a city to the ground then listen to any requests it makes.
The Kuroi region used to be a great place to go both for experienced veterans and for rookie trainers looking for their first badge. It had almost 15% more landmass then the largest region, but still had several rivers and an island off the coast dedicated to battling and Pokemon in particular. It had 3 laboratories, one of them making several advances, with gyms scattered across 8 of the 28 cities, and a great deal of training institutions for trainers in the making. All of the cities were prosperous and joyous with great city design, good food and water and a healthy climate made it almost perfect for trainers and non-trainers.
Kuroi's prosperity was soon to end, however. A young genetic researcher at the most prosperous of the laboratories in the region soon began doing experiments on his own Pokemon, a Golbat. He attempted to give it incredible sight and make it stronger. He was getting close to results but these experiments were not taken kindly by his superiors, so he was made to stop. He soon attempted underground methods of obtaining materials he needed to continue his experiments. The researcher's name was William Hunt. He soon encountered incredible results but their power was too great, and it needed to be controlled. However, he was discovered and had to retreat from his experiments. However, he used his connections to form a gang, consisting of standard thugs. He named it Ripper.
William Hunt soon used this gang to get his materials and data back so he could continue with his experiments. Eventually he managed to double a Pokemon's strength, but this Pokemon saw no need to obey humans. After subduing it, they used abuse and torture techniques to control it through fear. Soon, William Hunt began attempting surgery on wild Poochyenas, Zigzagoons and the like to gather knowledge for his next project: careful lobotomization of the fear and independent thought centers in a Pokemon's brain. He managed to perfect this technique, at least enough to garner total loyalty and viciousness. As a side effect of the genetic changes, they had totally crimson skin. William Hunt nicknamed these monsters Darkemon.
These Darkemon were powerful enough to draw people to join his gang, through either fear or a lust for power. Using these two factors, Hunt maintained total control of Ripper, but there was no ace up his sleeve to stop Ripper members from rebelling against him or to generate ultimate fear among the populace of the region, but he concieved something of pure evil: The Devolution Beam. With the help of his subordinates, he made a machine that devolved something into a bubbling puddle of proteins. But it required a great deal of power. However, Hunt got his subordinates to hook up the Devolution Beam to all power sources in the main area around it, getting as much power as it needs, which was usually most of what it could get.
Soon after, Hunt sent the now-organization after certain Pokemon which were deemed very powerful, but none met his standards. Soon, he looked for the stuff of legends: Pokemon so powerful they were known across the world. Using their incredible influence, the Ripper organization, after a great deal of thorough and exhausting searches, finally set eyes on an incredible Pokemon: Ho-Oh. However, it was very powerful, and none of their Pokemon could subdue it. However, using tranquilizer darts and practically military issue equipment, they subdued it and brought it to Hunt, who then made it a Darkemon and had it patrol the skies, burning down entire villages if they were disloyal.
Plot:
However, as Hunt's tyrannical grip got tighter, more and more people gathered up and wondered why they followed the laws Hunt set forth and didn't fight him. Eventually these grumblings became greater and greater before becoming rebellions. As these groups get larger and larger, Hunt paid more and more attention to them, and soon tried to deal with them, but they soon adopted a rag-tag guerilla strategy to combat a greater foe. It has worked enough to stop Ripper from expanding out of Kuroi, but Hunt hasn't brought the full brunt of his army to bear. They had to beat Ripper back completely, but they alone couldn't accomplish this.
Eventually, these rebellions found each other and began recruiting as many people as possible in the shortest time span possible. They soon named themselves merely the Resistance. They soon found many people in different cities with grumblings, and even people coming from the outside of Kuroi. However, eventually all contact with the outside world was cut off, and anyone who doesn't zealously obey Ripper is hunted down with the fury of all of Ripper. The Resistance is the only hope for the outside world. You have joined the Resistance and now are part of the wall that protects the world from Ripper. The pieces are in place and the war is about to begin. Both sides are using weapons of war long lost and will stop try their hardest to defeat the other side by any means necessary.

Important NPCs:
These will mostly be played by me. Here goes:
Name: William Hunt
Gender: Male
Age: 36
Appearance: Around 6'7", he is extremely bulky and is remarkably huge in comparison with the average person. He wears a black leather outfit with crimson shoulder pads and a gauntlet on his left arm that holds his Pokemon, as well as can give instructions to Ripper members and feed coordinates and settings into the Devolution Beam computer, allowing him to fire it at will.
Personality: Very much a dark and twisted figure. He, as the leader of the Ripper organization, is arrogant and considers resisting his rule futile and preposterous. He views the resistance as doomed to fail, and also demands respect and loyalty. He is not afraid to kill to accomplish his goals, and he also doesn't mind crushing foes ruthlessly.
Backstory: His backstory is mostly covered in the backstory section.
Skill: Okay with guns, decent at Pokemon(Usually gets bailed out by the power of Darkemon), but is very skilled with maces, perhaps more due to his size and strength then to training.
Next:
Breed: Lugia
Gender: Genderless
Nickname: None, he is a wild Pokemon.
Moves: Hydro Pump, Psychic, Aeroblast, Recover
Appearance: Completely average.
Personality: Very wise and kind, with great knowledge and charisma. He watches from above trying to guide people toward the good path to stop Ripper. Doesn't get directly involved very often, however.
Backstory: Lugia is legendary across the globe. The people of Shamouti call Lugia "The Guardian" or "The Beast of the Sea", and almost everyone knows Lugia, not by name, but usually by some cryptic reference. However, he is the ultimate force on the side of good against Ripper, serving as the counterpart to the Darkemon Ho-Oh.
Finally:
Breed: Ho-Oh
Gender: Genderless
Nickname: None
Moves: Earthquake, Ancientpower, Recover, Fire Blast
Appearance: A totally blood crimson color, signifying his status as a Darkemon. He's also a bit larger then usual.
Personality: Reflects Hunt's personality. The ultimate force on the side of evil, being twice as powerful as normal and powerful enough to level a small city or village by itself. The co-leader of the shadowy Ripper organization, using it's power and fury to keep everyone in Ripper in line. The most powerful Pokemon Hunt has, by far.
Backstory: Ho-Oh used to be legendary, flying across the sky through rainbows, with precious few seeing it. However, Hunt found it and used it to create the most powerful Darkemon, more powerful then any Pokemon currently in known to exist.
Now that that's done, there are some important facts I feel I should state, the importance of NPCs, along with deaths. And also, please use common sense with using man-made weapons against Pokemon(Don't have an Aggron die because he was shot in the back by a standard issue pistol, for instance).
Deaths:
Because the plot of the RP is a war, deaths are acceptable as long as you recognize that your character is dead. if you write your character as dead, they STAY that way unless you have a plot with a near-death experience instead, which requires there be a doctor around in time to save your character from whatever grievous wounds he suffered(In real life, please notify a death or near-death in OOC or by PMing me). Same goes for your Pokemon. Which brings me to...
NPCs:
Again, because the plot is a war, there are lots of deaths. However, instead of your character dying, there are NPCs to kick the bucket so that nobody has to leave but the story still makes sense. There will also be lots of NPCs wandering around, but you do not need to run by me with every single one. If you write your character talking to a Timothy with a Charizard who gets killed 5 minutes later, you do not need to run that by me. Same goes for the bad guys, too. This does not apply to Important NPCs, however.
