    Backstory:

In the grim shadow of the Kuroi region, a danger looms that threatens the world itself...

The Kuroi region, located far to the south of Hoenn, used to be prosperous and joyful, but is now under the threat of collapse. Entire cities are burned to the ground on the whim of a power-hungry madman. Men who are outspoken about this tyranny are turned to protein soup by a powerful device called the Devolution Beam. People and Pokemon alike are exploited for profit and entertainment, and the region is defenseless against the immensely powerful Darkemon, controlled by Ripper, an organization led by William Hunt, a cold-blooded tyrant who would sooner burn a city to the ground then listen to any requests it makes.

The Kuroi region used to be a great place to go both for experienced veterans and for rookie trainers looking for their first badge. It had almost 15% more landmass then the largest region, but still had several rivers and an island off the coast dedicated to battling and Pokemon in particular. It had 3 laboratories, one of them making several advances, with gyms scattered across 8 of the 28 cities, and a great deal of training institutions for trainers in the making. All of the cities were prosperous and joyous with great city design, good food and water and a healthy climate made it almost perfect for trainers and non-trainers.

Kuroi's prosperity was soon to end, however. A young genetic researcher at the most prosperous of the laboratories in the region soon began doing experiments on his own Pokemon, a Golbat. He attempted to give it incredible sight and make it stronger. He was getting close to results but these experiments were not taken kindly by his superiors, so he was made to stop. He soon attempted underground methods of obtaining materials he needed to continue his experiments. The researcher's name was William Hunt. He soon encountered incredible results but their power was too great, and it needed to be controlled. However, he was discovered and had to retreat from his experiments. However, he used his connections to form a gang, consisting of standard thugs. He named it Ripper.

William Hunt soon used this gang to get his materials and data back so he could continue with his experiments. Eventually he managed to double a Pokemon's strength, but this Pokemon saw no need to obey humans. After subduing it, they used abuse and torture techniques to control it through fear. Soon, William Hunt began attempting surgery on wild Poochyenas, Zigzagoons and the like to gather knowledge for his next project: careful lobotomization of the fear and independent thought centers in a Pokemon's brain. He managed to perfect this technique, at least enough to garner total loyalty and viciousness. As a side effect of the genetic changes, they had totally crimson skin. William Hunt nicknamed these monsters Darkemon.

These Darkemon were powerful enough to draw people to join his gang, through either fear or a lust for power. Using these two factors, Hunt maintained total control of Ripper, but there was no ace up his sleeve to stop Ripper members from rebelling against him or to generate ultimate fear among the populace of the region, but he concieved something of pure evil: The Devolution Beam. With the help of his subordinates, he made a machine that devolved something into a bubbling puddle of proteins. But it required a great deal of power. However, Hunt got his subordinates to hook up the Devolution Beam to all power sources in the main area around it, getting as much power as it needs, which was usually most of what it could get.

Soon after, Hunt sent the now-organization after certain Pokemon which were deemed very powerful, but none met his standards. Soon, he looked for the stuff of legends: Pokemon so powerful they were known across the world. Using their incredible influence, the Ripper organization, after a great deal of thorough and exhausting searches, finally set eyes on an incredible Pokemon: Ho-Oh. However, it was very powerful, and none of their Pokemon could subdue it. However, using tranquilizer darts and practically military issue equipment, they subdued it and brought it to Hunt, who then made it a Darkemon and had it patrol the skies, burning down entire villages if they were disloyal.

    Plot:

However, as Hunt's tyrannical grip got tighter, more and more people gathered up and wondered why they followed the laws Hunt set forth and didn't fight him. Eventually these grumblings became greater and greater before becoming rebellions. As these groups get larger and larger, Hunt paid more and more attention to them, and soon tried to deal with them, but they soon adopted a rag-tag guerilla strategy to combat a greater foe. It has worked enough to stop Ripper from expanding out of Kuroi, but Hunt hasn't brought the full brunt of his army to bear. They had to beat Ripper back completely, but they alone couldn't accomplish this.

Eventually, these rebellions found each other and began recruiting as many people as possible in the shortest time span possible. They soon named themselves merely the Resistance. They soon found many people in different cities with grumblings, and even people coming from the outside of Kuroi. However, eventually all contact with the outside world was cut off, and anyone who doesn't zealously obey Ripper is hunted down with the fury of all of Ripper. The Resistance is the only hope for the outside world. You have joined the Resistance and now are part of the wall that protects the world from Ripper. The pieces are in place and the war is about to begin. Both sides are using weapons of war long lost and will stop try their hardest to defeat the other side by any means necessary.

    Important NPCs:

These will mostly be played by me. Here goes:

    Name: William Hunt

    Gender: Male

    Age: 36

Appearance: Around 6'7", he is extremely bulky and is remarkably huge in comparison with the average person. He wears a black leather outfit with crimson shoulder pads and a gauntlet on his left arm that holds his Pokemon, as well as can give instructions to Ripper members and feed coordinates and settings into the Devolution Beam computer, allowing him to fire it at will.

Personality: Very much a dark and twisted figure. He, as the leader of the Ripper organization, is arrogant and considers resisting his rule futile and preposterous. He views the resistance as doomed to fail, and also demands respect and loyalty. He is not afraid to kill to accomplish his goals, and he also doesn't mind crushing foes ruthlessly.

Backstory: His backstory is mostly covered in the backstory section.

Skill: Okay with guns, decent at Pokemon(Usually gets bailed out by the power of Darkemon), but is very skilled with maces, perhaps more due to his size and strength then to training.

    Next:

    Breed: Lugia

    Gender: Genderless

Nickname: None, he is a wild Pokemon.

Moves: Hydro Pump, Psychic, Aeroblast, Recover

    Appearance: Completely average.

Personality: Very wise and kind, with great knowledge and charisma. He watches from above trying to guide people toward the good path to stop Ripper. Doesn't get directly involved very often, however.

Backstory: Lugia is legendary across the globe. The people of Shamouti call Lugia "The Guardian" or "The Beast of the Sea", and almost everyone knows Lugia, not by name, but usually by some cryptic reference. However, he is the ultimate force on the side of good against Ripper, serving as the counterpart to the Darkemon Ho-Oh.

    Finally:

    Breed: Ho-Oh

    Gender: Genderless

    Nickname: None

Moves: Earthquake, Ancientpower, Recover, Fire Blast

Appearance: A totally blood crimson color, signifying his status as a Darkemon. He's also a bit larger then usual.

Personality: Reflects Hunt's personality. The ultimate force on the side of evil, being twice as powerful as normal and powerful enough to level a small city or village by itself. The co-leader of the shadowy Ripper organization, using it's power and fury to keep everyone in Ripper in line. The most powerful Pokemon Hunt has, by far.

Backstory: Ho-Oh used to be legendary, flying across the sky through rainbows, with precious few seeing it. However, Hunt found it and used it to create the most powerful Darkemon, more powerful then any Pokemon currently in known to exist.

Now that that's done, there are some important facts I feel I should state, the importance of NPCs, along with deaths. And also, please use common sense with using man-made weapons against Pokemon(Don't have an Aggron die because he was shot in the back by a standard issue pistol, for instance).

    Deaths:

Because the plot of the RP is a war, deaths are acceptable as long as you recognize that your character is dead. if you write your character as dead, they STAY that way unless you have a plot with a near-death experience instead, which requires there be a doctor around in time to save your character from whatever grievous wounds he suffered(In real life, please notify a death or near-death in OOC or by PMing me). Same goes for your Pokemon. Which brings me to...

    NPCs:

Again, because the plot is a war, there are lots of deaths. However, instead of your character dying, there are NPCs to kick the bucket so that nobody has to leave but the story still makes sense. There will also be lots of NPCs wandering around, but you do not need to run by me with every single one. If you write your character talking to a Timothy with a Charizard who gets killed 5 minutes later, you do not need to run that by me. Same goes for the bad guys, too. This does not apply to Important NPCs, however.

    Here's my sign-up, everybody:

    Name: Thomas "Michael" Jefferson
    Gender: Male
    Age: 21
    Appearance:

Thomas Jefferson is around 6'0" and weighs about 175 pounds. He is somewhat cut, but certainly not built. He has various scars because of how long he's been in the rebellions. He has medium length brown hair, faded brown eyes, and a barely visible scruffy beard.

Generally, Jefferson clothes himself in blues and reds, primarily the latter, although despite no prior military experience, he prefers to wear appropriate (If badly made) camo for whatever region he is in when he's out on the field. When outside the field however, he usually wears a T-shirt and pants with boots. Usually, he wears red t-shirt and pants but blue boots or vice versa. Never will he be seen with the boots and the rest of his clothing the same color.

    Personality:

Thomas Jefferson is somewhat of a loner: the war with Ripper and the constant death of almost everyone around him has made him a cold and distant person. He does connect somewhat with friends, but never closely and especially never romantically, as his view on these is that they're both temporary and distracting from the cause of the Resistance. For the latter reason, he also does not take kindly to romantic relationships, as they represent an emotional bond that could spell doom for the Resistance.

Despite all this, however, he is very responsible and noble, putting everything else above himself. For this reason, actually, he tends to be willing to sacrifice his life nonchalantly if it will help bring Ripper down(Or another cause he considers noble). He is also EXTREMELY humble, both due to his childhood and the traits described above, and never tries to order his fellow men and women in the Resistance, instead lending his knowledge and experience wherever they are needed to succeed. He initially joined the rebellion out of fear for his Pokemon and for his friends, family and the region itself.

    Backstory:

Thomas Jefferson was actually born in the Kuroi region, and lived his life in poverty and unfortunate events. Despite this, however, his life's quality was bolstered by helpful people who showed their sympathy and kindness by offering food, water and money when they needed it most. It was also given greater joy by his fascination with Pokemon as a child, and there were several wild Pokemon near where they were forced to stay for most of the time. Among them was a Poochyena, who became quite a good friend of his. Eventually, when he finally got a trainers license at 10, with two years to bond with that Poochyena, he became so attached that he chose it as his first Pokemon. He named it Hound. After spending some time with Hound and waiting until he felt he was ready to venture out into strange areas, he was 13 by the time he went out.

He traveled around, battling trainers and won 6 badges, during which he caught 2 more Pokemon: an Electrike and a Rhyhorn. Along the way, his Pokemon evolved. He was 20 and had been doing extremely well through his journeys. However, soon he heard of Ripper through news all over the region. However, he never took action out of fear that the populace would attack him. However, news of the rebellions got passed to him by word of mouth, and he decided this was the perfect chance to both protect himself from constant attack from the people of Kuroi and help the region against a growing shadow.

Skill: Passable with swords and decent with guns from some training over the year or so he's been in the rebellions, and pretty good with Pokemon. However, he has a talent for tactical knowledge.

    RP Sample:

A Mightyena was across a field from a Combusken. The odds were stacked against the Mightyena. Mightyena tensed it's muscles and let out several drops of sweat on the floor as he once again banked across the field dodging a vicious assault by Combusken, it's Double Kick representing a great threat to the Mightyena's success. Thomas was on Mightyena's side of the field, and looked somewhat concerned, but soon let all worries escape him. He exchanged a look and a nod to Hound, the Mightyena, who understood exactly what he needed to do. The 14 year old owner of the Combusken exchanged smiles with Thomas.

"Combusken's Sky Uppercut has never failed me before!" The young trainer said, triumphantly.

Thomas wasn't worried: He knew Mightyena would do precisely what was necessary to best this Combusken. Combusken readied itself to crush Mightyena with Sky Uppercut but soon Mightyena was nowhere to be seen after it dug underground. The confused Combusken opened itself up to a dangerous opportunity taken by Mightyena. The surprised Combusken suffered a devestating hit in critical area, stunning it and leaving it open to attack. The Mightyena prepared itself for an attack.

"Try again, Combusken! You can do it!" The young trainer said as he began to worry.

The Combusken's owner was desperate now, the injured Pokemon left open for more attacks. However, it stood up and tried one last desperate attack. Things looked dire for Hound now. However, with a swift dodge, the Sky Uppercut merely threw Combusken in the air, and left it open for one of Mightyena's strongest attacks. With a quick bounce the Mightyena drew upon the power bestowed by his friendship with Thomas and unleashed a devestating Return attack that left Combusken defeated thoroughly. The young trainer of the Combusken looked shocked as he lost an almost surefire match up. Still, he dealt with the loss and shook hands with Thomas after they returned their Pokemon to their Pokeballs.

"You're a great trainer!" The young trainer almost instantly complimented Thomas.

"You're not that bad yourself. Keep trying for the top!" Thomas replied with complimentary words.

    Pokemon:

    Breed: Mightyena
    Gender: Male
    Nickname: Hound
Moves: Crunch, Dig, Return, Sand Attack
    Appearance: Pretty much average.
    Personality:

Hound is somewhat reckless and hotheaded, but he does understand the need for loyalty and caution in dangerous and/or troubled times. He is quick to try and mitigate infighting among friends, but even quicker to start fights with enemies. He has a similar view on life that Thomas does, but at the same time does feel he reaches almost unhealthy levels with nonchalant disregard for what happens to him as opposed to those around him, but still admires his selflessness.

    Backstory:

Hound actually was an incredibly wild Poochyena when Thomas first met him as a young boy, so much that even trainers attempted to dispatch the Poochyena, but over the course of 4 years Hound and Thomas became friends. One year later, Thomas got his trainers license and was even offered beginner Pokemon that would have turned out somewhat stronger, but Thomas chose Hound as his first Pokemon, a decision which Hound was eager to cooperate with.

    Breed: Manectric
    Gender: Male
    Nickname: Ectro
Moves: Charge, Thunder, Howl, Hyper Beam
    Appearance: Again, pretty much average.
    Personality:

Ectro is almost the opposite of Hound: Cold, calculating and overly cautious, but is very just and is actually a split-personality; he becomes almost berserker like toward truly despicable people. However, his lack of self-control in those situations can get him in trouble, so he still tries to maintain a balance.

    Backstory:

Ectro was actually orphaned and then abandoned at a young age; illness killed his parents, wild Manectrics, then he was captured by an unscrupulous trainer and proceeded to suffer abuse and eventual abandonment when the then-Electrike failed to live up to the outrageous standards his trainer set for him. He was found by Thomas, whose kindness helped Ectro, but he had already developed a fury that split his personality. However, since the war, Ectro has been very concerned about Thomas due to his distant and cold attitude.

    Breed: Rhydon
    Gender: Male
    Nickname: Duke
Moves: Earthquake, Horn Drill, Thunderbolt, Flamethrower
Appearance: Somewhat average, except he has some burns in his mouth from firebreathing.
    Personality:

Very battlehungry. He isn't reckless or hotheaded like Hound, but finds battle highly enjoyable and is exceptional at it. He is scrupulous and just, but isn't exceptionally willing to sacrifice his life or well being for the life and well being of somebody else. In actual battle, he is an asset in the massive raid on a castle, but not on the stealth mission to take design plans or what have you away from an enemy.

    Backstory:

Duke was actually bred by a Pokemon Breeder, saw minor success until nearly half his Pokemon died of a virulent disease strain coursing through the town's Pokemon(The same strain that killed Ectro's parents). Eventually, the breeded had to leave for a different town but didn't have the money to bring most of his Pokemon, so released them. Duke, however, had been bred with the ability to use Flamethrower and Thunderbolt which gave him an edge on other wild Pokemon. Eventually, he started picking many fights among the other wild Pokemon simply because he could win. However, he was eventually bested by Thomas in a battle, and captured. Ever since, he's had a respect for Thomas which grew into a friendship.
