Someday I will learn to stop drawing everything with exaggerated brow ridges and a semi-vacant stare. Also, someday I will buy a scanner. Until then:

"Forbidden" to view the reference ... *dies*

lol more spectacular (favorite word 8D) artwork! you are right about your brows, but your "stares" I can live with, he doesnt look vacant! ^_^

it does seem like the shadow on the right eye is a bit too strong, youd still see some hint of reflection from the eye there ... unless he's missing that eye ;o (the right side of his face looks a little disfigured ... it supposed to be that way?)

The orange hue also creates a good environmental feel desu~ C:

Bleh. Gone are the days of carefree image leeching. Fixed the reference link.

It worked before if you just copy and paste the URL.

Anyway, my jaw dropped when I saw the painting. It's most likely because I saw it first before the photo, but the colour and depth you put into the portrait looks better than the photo itself. I feel as if he's going to ram over me. So, I think you did successfully avoided the "vacant stare."

I like how the face emphasize a nice "dark" and "light" effect. An additional tiny speck of reflection in the left eye would look nice, though. Even if the photo doesn't show off that much.

I also like the highlights done in the hair. Almost golden, from what I see here.

If you don't mind, I saved it.. Because I really like it! Heh.

wow... that's amazing. i love the detail. the light and shading rock!

I finally got a photo of the colored version that doesn't suck. Check out the first post.
