Does anyone here know what to do once you have settled down after story mode? My sapphire has about 400:00 timewise, and about 75 hall of fames in it. I have filled my pokedex, ALMOST beaten battle tower, beaten all contests- but what is there to do? I would like some ideas on what to do to make playing my sapphire a bit more fun... right now Im a mindless elite 4 machine.

    Do challenges.
Either restart the game or kill the E4 epically with some sort of fail Pokemon. Like a Lv100 Cascoon Wurmple.

Wow. I commend you for suffering through 400 hours of mind-numbing in-game gameplay. What I have done is moved to breeding. I haven't played my Emerald for a few months now, but I am currently breeding my Pokemon in an attempt to get the best IVs as possible. A Pokemon with perfect IVs and a good EV spread is just so much more powerful than a random one. Of course, it does help that I have sons that enjoy competitive battling as much as I do and we have tournaments to find the champion. My oldest son defeated me.

Emerald though is the best game for breeding, so I would suggest you pick one up if it interests you. If it doesn't, I would do what Dark Lakitu said and just restart the game and make it more challenging. I restarted FireRed once and played with the following conditions:

    * My team consisted of a starter and the next 5 Pokemon I encountered in the wild. (HM slave was allowed of course since I didn't want to waste those crappy HM moves on my weak team)
    * I could not use ANY items (Revive, Potions, etc.) during battles.
    * The Pokemon on my team had to be at least one level lower than the strongest Pokemon of the gym I was battling next.

Even with these restrictions, I was able to win the game rather easily due to the inferior AI (that is made to allow a 6-year to be able to beat it), but I admit it was fun. It forced me to be wise in constructing my movesets (SubPunch on Raichu ftw in most cases) and more importantly, I was more aware of where to fight wild Pokemon in order to get my EV spread somewhat close to what it needed to be.

    Good luck.

I really suggest you go competitive. You can face a lot of skilled trainers that way, and learn how to make a very strong Pokemon. Studying IVs, EVs, Natures, etc. are a great way to help you get the boost into competitive battling. You'll learn why your level 100 Garchomp's stats is different from another level 100 Garchomp's. And then battle others to see who's team is the best. <3

You can start breed special pokemon with there egg moves, go through the battle tower again, make/breed more berries, check your game everyday for mirage island, and umm choose different odd pokemon in contests... xD

After 400 hours of working on my sapphire, I don't think restarting is what I want to do.
And I don't wanna take the time to train a caterpie to lv.100- if im gonna train something, it better be good. Thanks for the ideas anyways:)

well, I guess I sound stupid or whatever, but breeding doesn't appeal to me. I have gone long times in my emerald trying to hatch a shiny eevee.
Again, I do not want to restart my sapphire. When I get fairly far in a game (beat elite 4, raise one or more pokemon to lv.100) I grow strongly attached to it.
Any suggestions that do not involve restarting my work or training even more?

Well, there is your problem right there. No wonder breeding doesn't appeal to you. Shiny Pokemon are extremely lame and have nothing to do with what I am talking about. True breeding opens up your game to incredibly different possibilities. I would suggest reading the Breeding guide in the Breeding Forum (too lazy to provide a link, someone help me out). Breeding and competitive battling are the only good things about Pokemon. The in-game is always the same and the battles are geared towards 6-year olds. I don't know how people can continually battle the in-game trainers. At least Emerald has the Battle Frontier that can at least be a challenge.

Seriously though, look into breeding and see what you are really missing.

I have gone long times in my emerald...

Your Emerald, you say? There's something you could always do for fun. I have over 350 hours played on my Emerald file, and I'm still training pokemon to use for the Battle Frontier. The fun and excitement NEVER ENDS!!!!!! (literally)

But, if you still want something to do in Sapphire, you could try and make it all the way through 100 wins in the Battle Tower (the furthest I ever got was 55). After that, you could always train new pokemon to challenge the Battle Tower with, or find REAL people to battle!

There are endless ways you can challange yourself if you're bored, but most them involve restarting your game (which is what I often do). Use slow Pokemon if you want to challange yourself with the basic in-game AI (a team consisting of things like Magcargo, Crawdaunt, Parasect, Shuckle, etc.). Slow Pokemon usually have no power to back up their awful Speed (there are exceptions, like Slowking, and even Shuckle to an extent), so it provides a decent challange. Also, try using the overall weaker early-game Pokemon. See how far you can get with Pokemon like Taillow, Nincada, Whismur, etc. that have such lame movesets that it'll get you to really be creative in how you train them. Also, don't evolve your Pokemon; just use their base forms. In most cases, this may even help you; for example, if you start the game with a Mudkip and decide not to evolve it, you have the benefit of learning Hydro Pump, while its evolutions cannot.

If that's not enough, then find people you can have competitive battles with, since that is where the real challange often lies with Pokemon. Breeding is another fun thing to try and accomplish, especially when you can give your new Pokemon interesting and rare movesets, a better IV, good EV spreads, and all sorts of other stuff. It all just depends on what you want to do, and how you want to challange yourself after you've beaten the game a few times.

Well, not to boast or anything but I defeated all gold, pokedex filled up & got the statue. I completed everything but I still play it up to now.
I would suggest raising & EV training different Pokemon. OR just link battle to test your skills.
Emerald has a lot more things to do than you think...

Do some test breeding. It's what I did in LG and now, I'm high and proud with my Venusaur with Magical Leaf and Grass Whistle.

well, i guess breeding sounds a little more exciting! magical leaf and grass whistle?

    thats kinda cool:)

Well, you could always consider restarting your game, and transferring the rest of your team to D/P?

Ahah! You find all that amazing, that a grass type can learn grass moves? Wait till you see Sceptile use Dragonbreath, Bagon use Hydro Pump and Sudowoodo Self Destruct. That's right, Breeding is mad as.

I really don't see the benefit in giving Pokemon these off-the-wall random moves, since they don't get any STAB bonus from them. Then again, I guess it does make for a more balanced team. To each his own I guess.

Breeding is still fun though. It's cool to give Pokemon so many different moves that they couldn't otherwise learn on their own.
