Actually, in 7th grade Texas History class, we were each assigned the name of majot political figures that affected Texas during its years as a republic (1836-1845) and write a biography about that individual. I was assigned James K. Polk, who was the U.S. president credited with bringing Texas into the United States (although when I did more thorogh research on the topic this last year in U.S. History, John Tyler was the president who did all the official paperworky stuff, James Polk was just in office when the actual annexation ceremony occured).Chairman Kaga said:It is wise to remember that politics have no place at PC :);;
All presidents have done their share of harm, actually, some more than others, but I'm sure there's never been a president that doesn't have someone's blood on their hands...well maybe William Henry Harrison...he was only prez for 30 days :P I'm glad we didn't have to learn about each individual president in school...we were taught about the more important ones, but I couldn't imagine going through a lecture on James K. Polk or Chester A. Arthur ... instead we get bored learning about all sorts of stuff...I'm glad I had World History this year, the rest of the world is so much more interesting than us ;P
From my studies of U.S. History this past year, Ronald Reagan was a great president. He is credited with bringing the political scene to what it is today, and of course reinventing the Republican party to what it is today, as opposed to what it was during the Kennedy-Nixon-Ford-Carter years...
