Problem replacing the Oak Speach Character Sprites

So I'm working on a romhack where I'm replacing a bunch of sprites with custom ones. I've been doing well with the 4pp sprites, but now that my attention is at the beginning of the game, I'm having issues with replacing the colors. There are multiple of colors, and everytime I swap, I mess up other sprites in the screen. In the posts provided, the Gold Trainer sprite is a test placeholder.


Does anybody have a way to correctly replace the sprites?
