This is my third Pokemon fan fiction. This is set two years before Spencer (The Start Of Spencer's Journey and The Secret Of Shinford City) was born. This is the story of the birth of Project PokeTalk and how it would ultimately enable Spencer to be able to talk to pokemon.
Chapter 1
Marty Jackson is a pokemon researcher in a research lab at Alto Mare. It was a normal day at the lab and he sat down at his computer in his office and was studying pokemon DNA. He was looking at images of seperate DNA strands from certain pokemon and then an idea suddenly came to him.
"My God, that's it," Marty said to himself. He had discovered something what he had been searching for years. He realised that the strand of DNA was identical in every single pokemon but was not present at all in humans. He grinned at this discovery.
"This could be exactly what I'm looking for, the gene what allows all pokemon to understand each other. But I'll need to make sure first and its not some other gene," Marty said.
He then printed out the images on paper and left his office and his computer on standby. The pokemon Marty was going to test was a Dragonite, a pokemon who helps out with Marty's research. Marty's controversial methods of research was frowned upon by some people but Marty claims to be acting in the best interests of the pokemon and denies any cruelty involved. Marty told Dragonite what he wanted to do and although he refused at first, he eventually agreed after realising what could be achieved. Marty stuck a small needle in Dragonite's left arm and took a blood sample. He then put a plaster on Dragonite's arm.
"There, all done," Marty said. "Thank you for allowing me to do this. I promise you that what I aim to achieve is for the good of humanity and pokemon." Dragonite nodded then Marty left to return to his lab with Dragonite's blood sample. When he returned to the lab, he used a centrifuge tube to seperate the DNA from the blood. He then put both the blood and DNA samples in a fridge. He left it in the fridge for at least half an hour to cool down. While he waited, he had some lunch and a cup of coffee. He returned and then took out the DNA sample, which was being held in a tube. He compared some of it with the images he had printed out earlier. Marty looked at both the images and the DNA sample and realised they were the same.
"YES!", Marty shouted. "After all these years, I think I found you at last. At least I hope so" he added. "Now all I need is a volunteer."
