4th Gen Question about badges...

What badge do I need to control a level 50 Pokemon? I have three so far.

2nd Badge, up to lvl 30 obey
4th Badge, up to lvl 50 obey
6th Badge, up to lvl 70 obey
8th Badge, all obey

Been that way since the 1st gen, will probably stay that way until they stop making pokemon games

Because my whole team is purely traded from another person, does that mean I'll need the second badge for them to obey me fully? (They're at Level 17 at the moment).

Yup. Without the 2nd Badge, only Pokemon up to level 10 will obey you fully (in the case of Pokemon of a different OT). Anything higher and they may go against your commands. So you'll have to get that 2nd Badge soon and raise the limit up to 30. ^^;
