    can you battle/trade anywhere in the world on pokemon emerald?
     
    There's no Wi-Fi capabilities (if that's what you mean), no. This is because Emerald is a GBA game, and Wi-Fi only applies to DS games.
     
    can you trade battle for d/p without a wii? (i know it dosen't belong here but while we are on the subject)
     
    You have to use what's called the Pal Park I believe to transfer Pokemon from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald to D/P, and you only obtain that from completing the game as well as only able to trade 6 per day. You don't need a wii for that, and you can't trade backwards.
