I need some help deciding if my team is good or not.
My team is:
Latios
attacks:
dragon claw
Calm Mind
Recover
Safeguard/Thunderbolt
Don't give Latios physical attacks like Aerial Ace. It's Attack is pretty good, but it's no where near as good as its Special Attack. The cool thing about Latios is that it can attack using only one move – Dragon Claw. Dragon Claw is effective against every type except Steel. But most Steels have weak Special Defense so if you boost yourself with a couple of Calm Minds, Latios can easily rip through Steel types as well. Recover is there to heal any damage you received when Calm Minding. Safeguard to protect against status, however you can also keep Thunderbolt if Steels are giving you big problems, or you just want a quicker way of killing off Water types.
Salamence
attacks:
Earthquake
Aerial Ace
Dragon Dance
Fire Blast
Salamence can work in several different ways but you should focus on using mainly physical or mainly special moves instead of using both. As you'll notice from it's extremely high Attack, Salamence works very well as a physical attacker. The above is the Dragon Dancing version, and Aerial Ace and Earthquake will be your main moves. Fire Blast is there to take care of Skarmory and Forretress, two defensive Pokemon that will take a while to kill with your other two moves. Also, it gains a boost from Groudon's Drought, which is awesome.
Groudon
attacks:
earthquake
Swords Dance
Rock Slide
Fire Blast/Overheat
What? Groudon only has 3 attacks. O_o
Anyways, don't teach Groudon Solarbeam. Yeah, it fires in one shot and yeah it's supereffective against Water types. BUT Groudon's Special Attack is so much lower than its physical Attack that Groudon will be doing more damage with Earthquake than it will with Solarbeam. Rock Slide is another must-have, otherwise Flying Pokemon will laugh at you.
If you insist on using a Fire move, give it something stronger like Fire Blast or Overheat as Flamethrower may not cut it since Groudon isn't meant to special attack.
You'll also want a move to boost your attack. Either Bulk Up or Swords Dance works great, but Swords Dance is preferred since it boosts Attack faster and Groudon already has good enough Defense anyways.
Swampert
attacks: earthquake, surf, iron tail, ice beam
Earthquake
Ice Beam
Curse
Rest
You have two moves right which is pretty nice. Surf won't be very useful since it loses power in the sun and this is a very sun-based team. And Iron Tail is just plain useless on Swampert. It's inaccurate and Earthquake is already supereffective against Rock types. Use Curse as another stat booster to power up your Attack and Defense, then hit things hard with Earthquake. Ice Beam the Flying types that stand in your way. When you're low on health, Rest up and don't worry because Swampert has good enough defenses to survive plenty of hits.
Houndoom
attacks:
Flamethrower
Solarbeam
Crunch
Will-o-wisp/Pursuit/Beat Up
Ah, you've let Houndoom take advantage of sun – very smart. But Counter is a BIG no-no. Look at Houndoom's Defense. It's so low that it can't survive any physical hits (except for Ghost, but only an idiot would use Ghost attacks on Houndoom). You could give Houndoom Will-o-wisp to burn things like Salamence that it'll have a hard time with, or give it a second Dark type. They're both special in that they're used for killing off specific Pokemon. Pursuit is for Alakazam, Gengar, Celebi, and other Ghosts and Psychics that will switch as soon as they see Houndoom. Crunch won't help here, but Pursuit will since it attacks BEFORE the opponent switches (not to mention that it doubles in power). Beat Up is less useful but still great in getting rid of Blissey, who makes Houndoom cry with her massive HP and Special Defense.
Oh, but all three of those moves require breeding.
Metagross
attacks:
Earthquake
Meteor mash
Agility
Explosion
Again, you're half right but you're other two moves are off. Brick Break is useless because a single STABed Meteor mash is just as strong as two Brick Breaks. Psychic isn't useful not only because Metagross's special attack is low but also because it's not effective against any Pokemon except for Weezing (whom Houndoom can handle).
You could go with Agility Gross, and watch as it's faster than everything and can kill opponents in one or two hits. You can also use the Choice Band version although that requires some slick prediction.
