Yeah. Very nice job on the, er, "childish" May.

Ah, and the Torchiks look great.

Dactylus, please don't post content which is unsuitable for younger members of the site to read. It could also be considered offensive to the original poster. Please refrain from this in future.

As for the pic, I think it's very good! I adore the cartoony Torchic, it's just adorable! ^^ And you've done a good job of making a cartoon character look more realistic (that's really hard to do, I know!) Nice work! :)

The realistic May sort of looks like she has down syndrome, but uhhh, good job otherwise.

Thanks for your comments everyone (keep it coming?)! ^^

I have to agree with FG that Dactylus's post did offend me a bit. :( But I do agree that the realistic one does looks a bit down-syndromey(?!). Hahaha.

uhh........let me get too the good comment.Your cartoon haruka is cool.
and so is the relistic and cartoon pokemon.*-pauses-*But the realistic Hakura
is umm....sorry....but kinda ugly and creepy.here nose is too far up.The left eye pupil is weird.and here check look skinny.also remove the thing under her lip.

*likes the realistic Torchic* Phwee! Chicks rock! XD

I think the cartoony ones are cute. Yep, but that's because cartoons are usually cute. Even The Simpsons are cute. ^-^

I think the realistic ones are... well, realistic. Of course cartoony May is cuter. The realistic May kinda makes me think of when cartoonists try to make their people look realistic. The fluffy realistic Torchic is very cute! It makes me want to huggle it!

    Oh and manga-ka, I think that was a bit unnecessary to say that the drawing was scary and ugly (actually, it is not because of the drawing, real-life human beings are always ugly and scary compared to their cartoon versions). Come on now, no one wants to hear that about something they drew. Try to think of people's feelings a little more. ;_;

    Anyway, great job!

Hey I never sayed it was completly ugly.Just the way the eyes are placed.
Umm sorry If I hurt joo feelings:(

Hmm, sorry if it offends, but I really DO think the drawing is scary and ugly. And before people edit my post, flame me, or whine about this being mean, think for a second, okay?

When critiquing someone, you don't only point out the good aspects and then glaze over the bad. How is she ever supposed to get better if people don't tell her when they think something looks bad, or do so but then retract it?

I have nothing against Hous, I assume she's mature enough to take in critiques without considering them personal insults. So yeah. I'm going to go sleep.

Um... I knew I was a little too concerned about it. o.o I just thought it was a little mean to call someone's work they're trying to show others "ugly". I'm a really nice person, so I usually get a little angry when I see people use not so nice words in regards to others. Was I wrong to express my concern?

It is possible to convey the same meaning without using such words, and I promise you my intentions were not to flame anyone. I was just trying to make sure that the kind atmosphere we have in the art forum wasn't ruined for anyone.

I am fully aware of the fact that artists need good critiques to get better. But I am also someone who believes that support for the things done right, and and explanation about why things look wrong are all you need. Words like "stupid", "ugly" and others are words that are emotionally charged and thus usually end up either making people feel bad about themselves, feel angry, or feel unsure about their abilities. You may disagree, that is your choice, but I was just letting you know where I was coming from.

I honestly didn't want to make anyone mad or defensive. I've just seen too many people get hurt by comments like that, and since I don't know Housyasei-san very well, I didn't know that she was confident enough to take it. *shrugs* I apologize to both you and manga-ka, I know you two are probably just trying to help an artist out.

Anyway, enough of that. Apologies to Housyasei-san for gumming up the thread with my spammy post, but not responding would have made it look like I didn't care, and I do. ^-^

Sorry for being late with this stuff x_X. While I'm not a bit happy with the crit I got, my feelings aren't hurt much at all.
    Now to answer the quotes...

I agree. How can I improve my drawings if they are just "scary and ugly"? ...or better yet...How to improve them not to be scary and ugly? Hmm?

But calling one part of a drawing "lol she looks like a 57 year old prosuitute LAWL" is terrible crit.

I think I'm done in this here thread. :\
