Pokemon Seasons: Solstice & Equinox Versions
[PokeCommunity.com] [Recruitment] Pokemon Seasons: Solstice & Equinox Versions
Hello, PokeCommunity! I'm recruiting help for my ROM hack project, Pokemon Seasons. I read through all of the rules regarding recruitment posts, but please let me know if I've messed anything up, as this is my first post here.

    About:
Pokemon Seasons is going to be two games, Solstice & Equinox Version. They are Gen 3 ROM hacks (Pokeemerald) in the style of Gen 2, like G/S/C. Everything from the sprites to the tilesets to the music will all resemble the Gen 2 era, but it will be a GBA game. I've been very unsatisfied with the quality of the most recent Pokemon games and especially a lot of the newer Pokemon. I have always preferred when Pokemon were more like "realistic" creatures/monsters rather than the direction that they've taken things with everything (especially the starters) being some sort of caricature. My project started out as just an art exercise, drawing out Pokemon that I wish were real. It got so out of control that I started speculating on ideas for a region and story and everything. And, well, here we are. The goal of my project is to have a game that I can share with my friends and family, especially my daughter who will be old enough to play it in a few years. And I really just want to deliver a game that feels incredibly polished and like a good, traditional Pokemon game that keeps you captivated like the games used to when we were kids.

    Highlights:
    - Explore the region of Camborea, a down-to-earth region with heavy cultural roots tied to the four seasons and the changes they bring throughout the year.
    - A fully custom and fresh Pokedex consisting of 250 Fakemon, regional variants and convergent forms, and beta Pokemon designs, all with fully animated sprites (Crystal style). There will be no official Pokemon in the game.
    - An engaging and interesting plot that explores the history and secrets of the Camborea region.
    - Post-game content, including new maps, an additional plot, and more Pokemon to discover!
    - Fun and unique biomes, including a volcano town, city in the treetops, and underwater city.
    - A non-linear experience that encourages the player to explore, backtrack, and take their time enjoying the game... else risk missing many secret items and rare Pokemon!
    - A full day and night cycle, as well as cycling seasons and various weather for each season which affect the Pokemon that spawn and how common they are.
    - Most route maps will change in some way or another, depending on the season.
    - Pokemon Dens are a prominent feature of the game. Dens can be found throughout the region and can have anything from random items to Pokemon eggs or extremely powerful Pokemon. Many Dens become accessible or inaccessible during certain seasons.
    - Pokemon Gyms with themes rather than being mono-type.
    - New Light and Sound-type, along with new moves to suit these Types.
    - Many new moves, including signature moves for most Pokemon, and new abilities.
    - Following Pokemon!
    - Secret Bases!
    - All new music for the towns, routes, battles, and more.
    - Custom interface options to capture an old-school GBC feel with a touch of flair.
    - Extensive Wiki page with official artwork for everything relating to the games (WIP).
    - ...and much more!

Bunilope and Vaporet are examples of season-specific Pokemon. These two are only found around Camborea during the Spring, with Vaporet being much more common when it's raining.

    Recruitment:
    - Coding/Scripting: I am desperately in need of someone with experience with Pokeemerald disassembly. I'm able to work with Porymap and do most of the basic graphics. I've done a bit of data replacement like changing out NPC sprites and palettes, but I struggle pretty heavily when it comes to the coding and scripting for events and the bulk of the data.
    - Music: Looking for an experienced chiptune artist. I absolutely love video game music and need someone that will be very passionate about creating very official sounding tracks. There will be a lot of tracks to do.
    - Pixel Artist: While I'm handling the Pokemon sprites, maps, and UI, I would love to find an experienced pixel artist that could handle some of the tougher aspects of the graphics, like the game's opening cinematic (before the title screen). Having another artist in general would also be beneficial.
    - Open to additional help in other areas. Don't be shy about offering assistance!

    --------------------------------------------------

There are a ton more Pokemon that I have designed and sprited, but I'm keeping most of them unrevealed for the time being. I want the games to be a fresh experience that most go into blindly to, again, capture the experience of playing one of the older games for the first time without tons of things already being spoiled. So forgive me for being a bit sparse with tons of details and information.

Thank you for taking the time to check out my project! I really look forward to working with someone to get the ball rolling and see this whole thing come to life.
