    Hi everyone, inactive Pokecommunity member Meksal here. I have recently been re-inspired to play Pokemon after a Roblox/Minecraft obsession. Anyway, I've decided to put some time into trying this thing called the Red Paperclip Challenge (Pokemon Edition!). Basically, a guy traded a red paperclip for various items up to a house. I want to do that in Pokemon. I have already gotten very far, from a Ralts to a Xerneas. You can see my trade history below.

    THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 18

    I chose a very lousy pokemon to begin with, like I was supposed to. I decided on a level five Ralts. I didn't know what to ask, really. So I decided to find someone to trade with directly.
    I eventually found someone, and we worked out a trade: my Ralts for his newly hatched level one Druddigon. Seemed like a good step up.

    RALTS -> DRUDDIGON

    Again I did a direct trade. We worked out Druddigon for level one Froakie. I was hesitant, but decided that since you can only pick one starter at the beginning of the game, some poor Froakieless soul might want it more than a Druddigon, which you can go out and catch in the wild.

    DRUDDIGON -> FROAKIE



    FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 19

    I went for GTS this time, asking for a Vanilluxe in return for my lovely Froakie. Too much to ask for? Apparently not! Today I woke up to an ice cream cone sitting in the GTS. (I put the Froakie in yesterday before bed).

    FROAKIE -> VANILLUXE


    I switched back to direct trading, and ended up trading the Vanilluxe for a Greninja. I regretted the trade afterward for some reason, but the Greninja fetched me a pretty penny in the GTS.

    VANILLUXE -> GRENINJA


    After a few tries with direct trading, I settled on GTS. I asked for a Dragalge for my Greninja. Success! In only an hour I had gotten my Dragalge.

    GRENINJA -> DRAGALGE

    SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 21

    I decided to go for it. Dragalge for Milotic. Two days later I got a Milotic! Yay.

    DRAGALGE -> MILOTIC


    Now it's getting intense. I stuck my Milotic in the GTS for a Xerneas, and got one ten minutes later!

    MILOTIC -> XERNEAS

    I gave up on asking for a Lugia, and instead asked for a Mewtwo. Success! I get a Mewtwo about two hours later. It's also level 86 and named Dangerous.

    XERNEAS -> MEWTWO



    So far I've gone from:

    RALTS -> MEWTWO

    Maybe you could get a Phione, and work up to maybe... Manaphy, or the Pokeball/Fancy Vivillon, or something, and then trade it for... I have no idea, actually. maybe Victini or Meoletta

    Very true. I'll give it a shot.

    One problem, I'm not entirely sure if I have Manaphy or Phione in my Pokedex. The only Manaphy I owned (And all it's Phione babies) was living in my Pokemon White cartridge when it went through the washing machine and short circuited. But I might as well check!

    You don't need to worry if you have the thing in the Pokedex or not anymore! In X/Y, you can scroll to the bottom of the letters when searching for a GTS Pokemon, and then type in the name yourself!
