Regarding the DCC and recent happenings

Is this thread gonna be locked? Well, of course it is. But I just had to say this.

You guys locked the DCC. This punishment doesn't fit the crime, period.

The DCC has been around since PC has been around, and you guys just lock it perminately off a whim that a few members were acting stupid around it?

Well the problem was a persistant one and we were getting tired of it

There was no persistant problem, and no one was complaining. Seriously, how many people were hurt or seriously offended by all the DCC did? The DCC and what happened in it never did anything to anyone for real. You guys just locked it out of sheer indifference towards us members. This proves my saying, the staff acts in favor of the staff instead of the members.

This is a childrens site, and we have to stop the DCC for the good of the members

This isn't for the good of the members at all, it's for the good of YOU guys. For some reason, even while I was a staffer, you all always felt that the DCC was this horrible threat to PC, like it'd be the bane of PC forever. IT'S NOT, IT'S SERIOUSLY NOT. The DCC was a meeting place for all members to talk about whatever they wanted. It was fun and everyone loved it.

Sometimes the chats got out of hand, of course. But that's what warnings, PM's and temp bans are for. Yet for some reason, someone didn't want to go through the ridiculous hassle of warning three members, and decided to just piss off every member on PC. That is pure and simple selfishness, if I may say.

Don't you guys find it at least a LITTLE odd that the ONLY people on ALL of PC that disliked the DCC were staff members? A few higher staff didn't like the DCC...that's it, that's all. And because 5 higher staff didn't like the DCC, 2800 active members have to suffer from it.

Please tell me I'm wrong...just, convince me please.

Yes, I'm going to close this. Why? Not because I'm an oppressor of members' opinions. Because I closed the last thread for valid reasons, and then you went and defied that by posting this. This one is now being closed.

So what if the DCC's been around forever? The fact is, it became a problem thread. Is its longevity a justification for its recent occurences? NO. I have had members come to me personally and state that they were offended by the discussion in the DCC, multiple times. The DCC became an outlet for spam, flaming, and inappropriateness. I bet the other staff members have had people say it to them, too.

Don't use the DCC as part of your anti-staff opinions. It's really just annoying. We didn't close it because we thought it was going to be easier for us; we didn't close it because we didn't like it. We closed it because of its -ongoing- issues.

And that is all I have to say.
