Sooo as we know, Unova is based on New York. However, just how far do the references to New York go? While some things are quite obvious, there's a lot of unknown things that don't really come to mind - such as Braviary etc. Just don't be racist, please. :(

What cultural references to New York are there in Unova? Discuss!

Okie, that sounds wrong, but...

I don't get how the entire region was supposed to be like New York. I get the huge as hell bridge, but why four OTHER bridges? Village Bridge seems bland and boring, another goes over water, third is high in the sky, and last is above a train track. Sure, different scenery and views can be interesting, but just too many bridges and absolutely no use of the water areas for Surf purposes. You can't even see the water on Tubeline Bridge and there's no clue of where trains go on either side of the bridge (see R8/R9). So yeah, the bridges don't make sense.

Castelia apparently is downtown New York.

While the geography is very based on New York, and Castelia is one hundred percent downtown Manhattan, (I'm pretty sure at least) I always felt the fact that it's based on America was more apparent. Castelia is New York/the East Coast, Nimbasa is Vegas/Hollywood, and Braviary is Amurrica of course.
Twist Mountain/Mistralton Cave etc is based on the rocky mountains, perhaps?

As for New York, the Entralink is kinda like central park? The bridges allure to the many bridges in New York. The Unity Tower is based on the United Nations, but also the Empire State building I think. The Battle Subway is of course based on the New York subway system. The Nacrene City Museum is based on New York's museums? And the Striaton City Restaurant/Gym is based on the fine resaturants in New York? Lol, I don't live there and don't go there very often so I'm not entirely sure lol :D

IMHO, I'd rather Nacrene Museum be based on something like the Smithsonian or the Philly Museum of art.. It's much better than basing it off some random NY museum..
