Hi all I'm returning to pokemon after a long abscence since back when fossil was reasonably new and i just wanted to ask a few questions before i head to a tourny next month.

    1. What are the currently used decks because it used to be "Haymaker" and "Rain Dance" but im assuming it won't still be them.

    2. What are the rules on what cards can be used in tournies and what can't so are you able to use all the old cards or not.

    3. Any general advice would be greatly appreciated I intend on running a lightning deck with Tyranitar ex delta species and Ampharos ex.

    Thanks for all your help

    Old school old school.. ;)

Anyway, if you want to play competitively, you must play by modified format. Which is using a certain handful of sets (otherwise players would have a choice from 30+ whatever sets to build cards from, and theyd all be the same). Very soon, it will be cards from the set released in Holon Phantoms and later, theres a list somewhere in the Deck bit I believe.

Also if you do want to start buying packs, I'd recommend the set Diamond Pearl, since its the newest, in big demand and in comaparison to older cards, these are much better.

Ampharos ex is a great card, but can't be used in tournaments (not modified). Tyranitar ex d, is also a bit expensive to get hold of, I'd suggest you look into Diamond and Pearl and try some of those cards, such as Infernape and Empoleon.
