Hi, I've decided that I want to start sharing my thoughts on the anime that I watch for your reading enjoyment! Keep in mind that these are only my opinions, and you are more than welcome to disagree. Now, let us begin.

I should start by saying that I am a complete sucker for a good romance. It's an important part of me, and I love to see one that is properly executed. For those who get a bad taste in their mouth when they see those super predictable, boring romances, prepare to be blown away!

The beginning of the show may seem like average, simple set up. Nothing seems unexpected, it feels like you're watching any other romance. But once the exposition is over with, this show distinguishes itself very quickly and dramatically. The characters are written beautifully, the plot is more than interesting, the setting is somewhat realistic, and I found myself caring about these characters way more than other anime has.

Another truly gripping factor that hooked me is the emotional realism. When a character reacts, or feels a certain way, it never strays from how a real person would do so. When a character is angry, you understand why. When someone cries, it makes sense for them to cry. One problem with romances is that the characters tend to be way too dramatic than any real person would be, and make a big fuss out of nothing every two seconds for the purpose of drama. It's lame. "Golden Time" strays from this. If someone is upset, yelling, or crying, you think "I would do the same if I were in that situation." Many romances lack that quality.

Next, I want to discuss the quality of the plot. The thing with "Golden Time" is that the climaxes of this show shook me to my core. Never has a heartbreaking scene cut me as deep as this show. It...really got to me. Made me care about the characters more than I care about some real people. I was truly blown away by this, and no other show has put me in a heavier emotional state than this one. The last arc especially had me pacing the floor thinking about it. It's just that good.

Next there is the lack of an antagonist. No petty jealous person running around trying to break someone up, no disapproving parents looking to rip their child's lover from him/her. While some like putting a face to the enemy, it's just not appropriate for a romance. The show doesn't need to be about that. It should be about the couple, and how the challenges that they face affect their relationship with each other. Now don't get me wrong, the characters do bad things to each other. But there is always pain behind the mean things, and the characters forgive and understand when mean things are said. "Golden Time" punctuates on the fact that there is no enemy, and keeps the focus where it needs to be.

Now don't mistake my praise as a claim that this show is perfection, because it's not. Some of the plot points dragged out a bit too much. And while all of the crying made since, it felt like someone was crying in every scene. They had good reasons to cry, but it gets a little annoying. Otherwise, this show is one of the best romances there is in my opinion. If you haven't watched it yet, I highly recommend giving this show a try. You will not be disappointed!

For those who have seen this anime, what'd you think? Too sappy? Not your cup of tea? Best romance ever? Be sure to let me know.

I think that this anime needs a little bit more of a story and I wish that they found out who hit Tada Banri knocking him off of the bridge. Overall though, it was well made. 7/10

    Yana was my favorite :-3
