my first ever built-from-scratch team, and I've been using it for a while, but there's still things missing, and I, not being smart enough am unaware of what they are.

oh, and the team's 4th Gen

    Salamence
    @Choice Band.
    Jolly Nature.
    6HP, 252Att, 252Spd,
    ~Aerial Ace,
    ~Earthquake,
    ~Stone Edge,
    ~Dragon Claw,

    Blastoise@Leftovers.
    Calm Nature.
    6HP, 252Def, 252Sp.Def,
    ~Yawn,
    ~Mirror Coat,
    ~Ice Beam,
    ~Rapid Spin,

this one's a real weak point. I'm really not keen at all on the moveset.
I don't even know why I chose Ice Beam, I think I'd prefer Surf.
Considering switching Yawn for Toxic also.

    Porygon-Z@Choice Scarf.
    Modest Nature.
    6HP, 252Sp.Atk, 252Spd,

You need max HP...the moveset needs tweaking, I'll get to it later.

    Fine.

    Thanks for your help.

good luck with heracross and Vire. Otherwsie you're in decent shape, but...I'd throw in gliscor over umbreon.

Anti, Umbreon really isn't as bad you think. Sure, Heranape, my new fusion, causes untold problems, but its not that bad.

Staraptor, Vire, Blaziken, TTar, Mence, Gyarados...OMG! It's one of my favorite pokemon, but it just isn't that good. Doesn't accomplish much for this team anyways. IMO

Please. Inferncross, my second poke, can beat those...

There's a reason Umbreon & Jolteon are mentioned countless times.

Yet the best eeveelution is vaporeon...

Anyhow, umbreon is rediculously easy to counter...I just don't see it as a good poke anymore. A bad BL IMO.

    Alakazam@Life Orb/Expery Belt
    Timid Nature
    6HP, 252 Sp.Atk, 252 Spd,
    -Psychic
    -Energy Ball/Grass Knot
    -Focus Blast
    -Shadow Ball

You already have 2 Choice Band pokemon on your team. I believe that Alakazam should have a bit of freedom in attack selection. Grass Knot is always worth a good consideration.

I like the DD set over CBed set, but Dnite pulls the DD set off better and should never be CBed. This is nice

I don't have much imput for him sorry :( He NEEDS some HP though

    Porygon-Z@Choice Scarf.

    ~Tri Attack,
    ~Dark Pulse,

Very nice, but Porygon's part of your problem.

    Bold Nature.
    252HP, 252Def, 6Sp.Def,
    ~Calm Mind,
    ~Surf,

I think this is the standard set, my knowledge of legendaries is very very limited.

    Umbreon@ChestoBerry/Leftovers.
    Bold/Impish/Calm/Careful Nature.
    For Bold/Impish:252 Def/156 Sp. Def/100 HP ~~For Calm/Careful:252 Def/200 HP/56 Sp.Def~~,
    ~Mean Look,
    ~Baton Pass,
    ~Wish,
    ~Confuse Ray/Faint Attack/Pursuit/Shadow Ball/Dark Pulse

I know Mean Look basically gets rid of the need for pursuit but rather be safe than sorry. The rest of the moves are for taunting pokemon protection, It really depends on whether you want to use Special or physical moves I recommend Dark pulse the most.
I don't min the way you have it set up for nature and EV's so if you don't want to change them that's fine also, considering I winged the EV's.

    Alakazam@Choice Specs.
    Timid Nature.
    6HP, 252Sp.Atk, 252Spd,
    ~Psychic,
    ~Energy Ball,
    ~Focus Blast,
    ~Shadow Ball,

I mentioned earlier that Porygon-Z was part oy your problem, Alakazam is the other. They're both awsome pokes but having them both on the same team isn't the greatest of ideas. I prefer Porygon-Z over Alakazam this gen. Zam is faster though which gives it more item possibilities. Adding Choice Specs to it is just mean. I rpefer Gengar over them both. His moc bolt-beamer possibility is sweet if your wiiling to put the time in for HP ice.

Some kind of tank would probabley fit you best here, maybe a cursepert or Tangrowth. Something with some sort of physical walling capabilities.

    Thanks for your help.

Here I gave this a quick rate in the quote. Well it turned out longer than expected. It's ben awhile since I did such an in-depth rate.

Edit: Man I got distracted and bam byt he time i press post Anti-Pop's already got here.

Also a reason Vaporeon isn't mentioned as much. Checkmate!

He HAS fallen in grace, I'll admit that, but it isn't hard to play right. & a good wall at that.

Actually, I think donphan would be nice for this team.

    Donphan @ Leftovers
    Trait: Sturdy
    EVs: See compiled guides...
    Adamant / Impish
    - EQ
    - Rapid Spin
    - Rock Slide
    - Rest

FTW. Oh, stone edge over rock slide. lol, 3rd gen curse...don't ask lol

    If you wanna get technical

    Earthquake
    Rapid Spin
    Ice Shard/Stealth Rock/Stone Edge/Rock Slide/Rest
    Ice Shard/Stealth Rock/Stone Edge/Rock Slide/Rest

Also, you might want to consider Donphan, he's one of the best in walling Vire. He could also be a Rapid Spinner if you don't like Blastoise.

Claydol is the ultimate Electivire counter. Immune to two of his [common] moves, resists the other, and takes less than 50% from Ice Punch. AND he OHKOs 'Vire with an Earthquake of his own. So basically, if you switch Claydol in on anything but an Ice Punch, you're safe all the way. And usually Electivire users are too stupid to realize that Claydol is bulky enough to shrug off an Ice Punch.

And Claydol learns Rapid Spin for himself.

I guess I'm trying to say that, in my personal opinion, Claydol outclasses Donphan by a long shot. But that's just me. Claydol vs. Donphan is, after all, a classic debate.

Helps also that Claydol takes no damage from spikes and minimal damage from Stealth Rock

I seem to be growing quite fond of Claydol as of late :D

I've been using Claydol since I first started battling competitively! I always say I feel like I started the Claydol revolution in the 4th Generation. XD

Only problem with him is that he has soooo many weaknesses. He's bulky enough to survive a good majority of super effective hits, but it seriously cripples his walling capabilities.

So when you use Claydol, you really got to know what you're doing, and what you're up against. What Claydol walls, he walls amazingly well... but you'll be unlucky enough to switch him in on the wrong move if you don't know how to play him well.

The thing I like about Donphan (other than the fact I can name it Yoshi) is that it has Ice Shard, stealing KO's.
