Rom hack online legal?

    have a question.....

    is it legal to put the Rome hack online so anyone can download it? Because, according to Nintendo, owning a Rome is not allowed ...
    if it is legal , Are these rules for owning Roms in English states the same as in German states?

    One thing you can do is submit your ROM hack but instead of supplying the ROM itself, you can use Lunar IPS to make a patch with an ".ips" extension, and distribute that. Downloaders will need their own compatible vanilla ROM and Lunar IPS to patch and thus play the game.
     
    Depends on your country as well as a body of sketchy case law.

    Technically the entire rom hacking hobby violates copyright and trademark laws in multiple countries, but you don't see anyone here losing sleep over it.
