So I finally decided to go to a midnight opening pre-order party last nite. I got home, I watched CNN for a while to see what the U.S. Department of Idiotic Overpaid Children was up to with the debt ceiling down there, then I plugged the 3DS in to charge while starting a run at Pokémon X.

While I do already have a gallant party of 7 Pokémon, there is an interesting element to where I got them: not a single one comes from Route 1. Indeed, the storyline sends you to the second town before you even collect a Pokémon (got my Fennekin!). The tiny Route 1 path connects straight between the towns, with no grass. I don't know if grass later appears there yet (way ahead), or what happens, but right now it seems to me that Route 1 is the first "starting route" that doesn't have a single wild Pokémon in it.

What does everyone think about this? Do you like it? Do you wish the starter came from the starting town somewhere with the normal Route 1 starting method? Or do you like getting to go on an early stroll through the wilderness without a care in the world?

Myself..i think its kinda lame, but oh well. At least the young Pokefans wont notice it.

Well, considering you don't get your pokemon until you get to the town on the other side of Route 1, it would be dangerous to have grass there. Poke Professors are always telling us how dangerous it is to go in the tall grass without a pokemon to protect us! :P

I agree, I find it kind of strange that they even have us crossing the first Route immediately without a Pokémon. I wonder why they did that this time. :)
