[ASM & Hex] Routine for choosing battle background?

    I'm looking for the ASM routine for the battle background hack that karatekid552 made here, but for emerald. I did some digging and found the source code here, but I have no idea how to set this up for emerald. It's a little confusing to me. I'm not looking to repoint the the table of battle bg's (like his ips patch does), i just want to be able to set what background is being used in certain battle situations.
