The adventure begins

Yesterday, on European release date, I made a good use of my morning off to get myself a special edition 2DS with Pokémon Moon pre-installed and immediately started playing. Having never owned a Nintendo handheld before, this is a whole new experience for me and I can say it's a lot cooler than emulators. And I must say, the visuals of Moon are simply amazing! (But that might partly be because I mostly played in the third generation before this. xD)

So I started up the game, amazed myself on the quite in-dept introduction of the game, almost died if it wasn't for Tapu Koko, befriended an owl Pokémon (named Quiff) and wrecked Hau twice. Seriously, for a rival he's a joke. Weak typing and all starters who all learn STAB moves in level 5 makes an easy match. My current party consists of whatever stuff I could find on the first route.

I wanted to post this yesterday, but couldn't get access to the internet. I have been playing Moon a lot (read: too much) since, so expect an update soon!

What can I say? I like birds. Clucks and Quiff have definitely made it to my two main Pokémon on the team. I made a bunch of team swaps. Vivian evolved into Butterfree (which now learns Gust in level 10 instead of Confusion, which is rather interesting), but she suffered the same fate of being boxed as I used the Pokémon before in FireRed.
At the Trainer's School, I found out Alolan Grimer are incredibly strong on low level after almost being swiped by a wild one. Seriously, Poison Gas and Harden is not a cool combo to face and STAB Bite in level 8 is simply amazing. (Might also partly because of the lack of special moves on my team at the time.) Globbo, being the same Grimer, later did a great job battling Ilima.

Furthermore, not a lot exciting stuff happened. I met Team Skull a couple of times, and every single time I almost fell out of my chair from laughter looking at all the weird hand gestures those guys make. I think they made it to my favorite evil team!
And then there was of course Ilima's trial, but those Rattata and Raticate were no match for my Pikipek. (Why the hell does a cute little birdie learn Rock Smash?) When battling the third Pokémon, Clucks grew to level 14 and evolved into Trumbeak with Brick Break even. ×4 damage means Totem Raticate got one-shot without having a chance to even do a thing.
