Anyone have a story to tell about things they thought or were told were in any version or generation of Pokemon?

Whether it's Mew under the truck in RBY, or triggering Celebi in GSC, or flying to the moon for Deoxys in RSE, share what you can! Any links to where a particular rumour started would be especially fun to read, as well as why you believed it. :D

That if you pressed A really quickly when catching a Pokemon it was more likely to work. I believed this because the first time I did it I caught the Pokemon first try. Now, even though I know it's fake, I still do it.

this is also about catching Pokemon with balls, I though by pressing both a & b at the same time would have a better capture rate

    :t354:TG

i thought that pressing a thing worked. But, once my brother was in the grass above goldenrod in Gold and he was moved to violet town so i just told him he did it himself but he was sure that it was part of the plot and that it was ho-oh lol. It never happened to me on silver.

There were a ton of rumors back in the Red/Blue era. Catch Mew, catch Pikablu, catch Yoshi, catch Prof. Oak, catch Mewthree...every one of them involved an elaborate and difficult chain of events to be accomplished without saving. XD

I actually recall trying to catch Pikablu back then, involving training a Pikachu to lv.100 in one game and training a Magikarp ot lv.100 in another game, not letting either one evolve, and trading them to eachother to end up with both games getting Pikablu. >_>

Oh, and the press A when you throw a pokeball thing...even though I know it's fake now, it's still a habit of mine every time I attempt to catch a pokemon, I still press A just out of habit. XD

i heard u can find celebi some where in diamond where there is an ancient scripture on the wall u read then like in the next 100 or steps u will find celebi

Back in G/S/C I spent countless hours trying to catch Celebi. That was before I knew how to get viable info on the internet on Games, so rumors spread rampantly through my circles of friends, and there was really nothing to do but try the stuff out. Most of it was false though.

I've never trusted any legend thing(Except the real MEw bug that really worked on my yellow, though I had no balls for it T_T)
Though I've thaught that pressing b and the up button when throwing a ball was upping teh capture rate. I don't do it anymore though

One rumour that was in my School was that if you use Item Finder 100 times in Mount Moon, You get a Key Item called "Egg". Over a certain period of time, It would hatch into a Togepi.

Funny, seeing how there's no internal clock in RGBY

The ideas of Pikabu, Mewthree, and Nidogod ran rampant, too.

There was this one fat kid who thought he was a Pokemon expert and purposely made rumors up to make people jealous. One example is that he said his copy of Dragon Warrior Monsters was "Pokemon Black".

He also said that in Yellow you choose between Pikachu and Psyduck.

And he made up versions all the time like Pokemon White with Togepi, Pokemon Pink with Jigglypuff, ect.

lol, I liked it better when there was no internet, just you, your friends, a copy of Red or Blue version, and a whole lotta bull**** rumors.

Also, Tangela would be Pokemon Spaghetti Version. rofl.

the mew truck, i spent like 20 minutes trying to figure that out when i was really young

When I was a kid,I was told about a sunken ship called the "SS.Penny" appearing in the cerulean cave. If you got there,(and I forgot how, all I remember was that the method was even stupider.), you would find a ton of valuable stuff. Yeah, I was stupid back then.

I was told that Mewtwo was not in the Cerulean Cave, but instead, he was roaming in armor inside of the Cinnibar Mansion. I was scared out of my pants.

The funny thing about the Pikablu rumour was that it turned out everyone saw the Pokemon movie and somehow most of the world heard the word "Marill" as Pikablu. And so Marill was perceived to be Pikablu.

For some reason, I tend to press the B button only, not A, when I'm catching a pokemon. Of course, I know that it won't actually help me catch the pokemon and it has nothing to do with the capture rate, but I just do it randomly...

That you can battle Prof. Oak. He's the hardest trainer in Pokemon.

Don't remember the procedure, but this was pretty funny.
This one was actually true. Oak was intended to be the champion, but that didn't make much sense so they made it your rival... You can still guess this from the hint at the beginning of the game, when the Elite Four sends Oak an E-mail requesting his presence.

There's also in-game data for his team. It's pretty powerful.

    I remember pikablu

My brothers were the ones that told me about him too xD
    good times
    good times

    Oh

and i remember the truck, annnndd
i heard something about in GSC, going to the clefairy dance on mt. moon, would get you a pink butterfree
and going back to cerulean cave would get you a mew/mewthree
there was a mew in bills back yard
and theres a mew under the truck xD

and the , press "A" quickly would help catch pokemon
I still do it out of habit,

I'd like to see evidence of this, because it sounds flippin' awesome! :D

I've always heard a rumour/Secret/lie that in the old games like Pokemon Red and Blue
When you throw your pokeball and you hold down+A. It's a 100% capture. I never tried it though.
    I only heard about it.
    LMAO!
