Setting Up a Base ROM

    Hello!

I'm just starting to sink my teeth into romhacking. After doing LOTS of reading, I settled on PGE and G3T as my tools of choice, with a few here and there for other things like adding pokemon.

Among other changes, my Emerald's going to have a full dex up to gen 7 if not 8. I'm editing a base ROM rather than the disassembly because as far as I can tell the disassembly can't be used with my tools?

I was wondering if there were any base patches out there floating around I should apply before I get going.
Ideally, one that filled out the Dex so I don't have to manually add several hundered pokemon.

My suggestion is to start with binary fire red using cfru and dpe

That definitely seems like the way to go, actually.
I'm able to use PGE and G3T with Fire Red, so I think I'll stick with that.
But- About manually making 300+ pokemon...
Any luck on a patch that does that for me? Fills out the dex? Even to just gen 5 or 6 would be helpful.

Okay, I'm having a new problem.
I downloaded everything and ran it using my python install but it didn't work- The cmd prompt did say success, but it wasn't actually successful. The CFRU worked like a charm, but DPE doesn't generate the result .gba file.
