i want to know how people get so many shinys i mean i have played the game over 300 hours and only seen 1 shiney

Well, some people have so many because they spend a lot of time hunting for shinies, if you don't make an effort to use the pokeradar to find 'em, there's not a real good chance to find a shiny poke.

As a Shiny Hunter, we usually spend most time using the PokeRadar and hatching eggs. Don't give up hatching eggs after only few 10s of eggs hatched. It takes a good number to get a Shiny. Good luck finding one.

Sometimes people just trade pokemon for shinies at the GTS or another trading place. Thats what some people do instaid of trying their luck searching for them in the grass.

well i have tried to chain useing the pokeradar but the best i have go is 20 (and i used max repel) now i have cmpleted the pokedex exept for event pokemon so what do people think the chances are of me gettin a shiney if i try to have every pokemon

I have seen about 7 shinys in pokémon games:

Red Gyarados (Gold, Silver, Crystal) (Caught many times)
2x??? (I think there's two pokémon that belongs to here, I just can't remember what they were, but in Gold)
Ursaring (Gold) (Caught)
Graveler (Platinum) (This one used Explosion and I couldn't catch it)
Raticate (Silver) (Caught)
Rattata (Gold) (Caught it few days ago and now it's Raticate, I play Gold on my phone :D)

I haven't used PokéRadar to catch shinys, I have thought about it and I think it's not funny, I go and see if I can catch one without it. I have played lots of Gold as you can see, now I hope that HeartGold is good enough or better, so it can be my second favorite game (Gold is best game) or maybe it even beats Gold (I hope so)

I feel your pain about the Graveler using explosion. Some people say they chain Pokemon but they may use a cheating device sometimes. I'm not that lucky when it comes to finding shinies

I don't hunt shinies, so that's no surprise.

You've gotten lots of answers and honestly, being patient is pretty much all there is to it regardless of the technique you use. Aside from cheating, that is.
