3rd Gen Shiny help in emerald

So my mom got me an emerald game this christmas, but the battery died, the game can be played fine but it says "Clock based events will not work"
Since shiny hunting is extremely confusing in emerald cuz of the RNG and its based on frames how does it work? Also will it work with a dead battery?

Another thing, is there a way without cheating to find that "shiny frame"? And after a while does the timer for the frame reset?

i don't believe a dead battery affects it (i could be wrong though)

in lamest terms, at the start of the game you are given a number, let's say 55

and each frame is also a number. (eg frame 1 is 72)

so it will cycle through all these numbers as the frame changes, so when it hits our number (55) it's shiny.

now on a usual game, these numbers are reset everytime you reset the game (e.g. our number could now be 12, and frame 1 could now be 99), but since emerald is broken these numbers stay the same so you can eventually choose the frame with the number that matches ours

sounds simple no?

but in every second there's 60 frames, so pin pointing 1 frame is very difficult.

regards to secret id, THIS THREAD over on smogon will help, however the thing for iv to PID doesn't work so you may have to find one yourself, dunno where i got mine
