"Showdown in Dark City" Episode Discussion

Oh, this was such a stupid episode. They're pokemon, not bulls, for heavens sake! If they were tauros it would have been understandable, but scyther and electabuzz? Bleargh.

Idea: have you thought about posting links to corresponding WTFP episodes in the episode discussions for the old episodes? I'll put up the link for ths one, but if you think its a bad idea, just tell me. :P

I agree with alipeewee here. The episoe made little sense in why the pokémon hated red. Something that has never been brought up again.

This had kind of a bizarre plot which is a reason why I liked it and also the nicknames were another reason as well and I remember them all. Ash was Tom Ato, Misty was Ann Chovy, Brock was Caesar Salad. Brock's nickname was not very original but the ones for Ash and Misty were amusing to me at least. I am surprised no one remembered or brought up that yet but I know about it since I have this episode on DVD and have become a Kanto and Orange Islands junkie over the recent years.

And of course, there's the continuity issue with Scizor. Playing with continuity gets you all screwed up, you see, something that the writers eventually learned.

Well, I have one more discussion left today, and that will be it for a while. I'll not up to sorting your contention, right now, but I'll give it a look. Then, I'll get back to you in another post.

Anyway, Bulbapedia poses on the Electrabuzz/Scyther being angry at the sight of red theory. Apparently, it's because both Pokemon are exclusive to Pokemon Red. It makes sense enough to me. Plus, PS referenced the Scizor being red, though, the writers may not have thought of it, at the time (I say "may," due to their using Ho-oh from the start).

Well this is one of my fave. Teeheehee I don't know why but the storyline for this episode just got me.

Still I think one thing that got me laughting was that once all the fighting between the two gyms were done that they wanted to attack Ash. Teeheehee That was funny.

Also I think that this is first episode that Pikachu used Thunder. Now that was super coolies. Still has anybody notice that Pikachu doesn't use Thunder anymore. I think the last time Pikachu used Thunder was back in early Hoenn and then it just disappear. Am I the only one that noticed this? Su?

BTW, that reminds me, anyone notice that when Pikachu was using Thunder, he summoned a thunderstorm/thundercloud all by itself? I mean, usually, one pikachu, according to it's dex entry, can't create thunderstorms/clouds unless it's with it's pack doing it, and yet it created one as if it was nothing.

Aren't the events where Pikachu does summon thunder usually when clouds are around, though?

I'll admit - I don't exactly remember the details of this episode. But at least the writers have rectified the stormcloud issue, no?

Hi Miss Reyna!! You haven't been on in *ages*! I agree, although the whole thing with them hating red is odd, it's an enjoyable episode. Haha I thought the part where they attacked Ash was hilarious XD

Fun fact - This is the first time Ash tells Pikachu to use Thunder
(I think)

Bulbapedia says it is. So, I have to go with that.

Also, anyone surprised that the mystery figure was Joy? I figure this kind of thing would be on Jenny, due to laws in the Pokemon world and all that.

The police system is quite rubbish there, they can't even catch Jessie, James and Meowth. Seriously, how many times have the police been unable to catch the criminals? I'd probably trust Joy more XD

Excellent use of logic, as I can't refute that. Plus, Joy seems more competent by comparison. How sad is that?

Teeheehee Yeppie. I been busy with school work and a certain storm. Su Still happy to see you too Jorah!!! *hugs*

Now that I think about it. That is strange. Su. Still I guess Joys are more powerful then? Teeheehee Didn't we have one that had a super powerful Chansey? Teeheehee
