2nd Gen Silver: First fire-Pokémon?

So I've started playing Silver again (on my cellphone) and I chose Totodile. After that I caught Mareep. Now what I need is a fire Pokémon. What is the first real good that appears in the game? I just finished the second gym.

I think that Growlithe/Vulpix appears either before/after Goldenrod or on the routes before Ecruteak. Just going from memory though.

Before Ecruteak, and Vulpix only in Silver. They're not exactly common, though, and they know Roar. Good luck.

Personally, I don't know about Hypnosis because it had a shoddy accuracy (60%) back in the GSC era. It's improved now, but back then, it really wasn't worth it. You're better off getting something to use Sleep Powder on it or taking a risk and whittling down its HP and using a Great Ball (or special Apricorn Ball) when you get a chance.
