Me and my friend have been building our teams for the last couple of days, a lot of breeding and EV training, and so on. I wanted a Metagross since I've always loved the species, and I like how it doesn't have a gender - which relates to my question, also.

So my friend got a Beldum over the trades some days ago, and it was lvl 1. I didn't understand how this was possible since I have always thought that you couldn't breed genderless Pokémon (and the only Beldum you get is the one in R/S/E, which is lvl 5) and so yesterday, I suddenly found out that you can breed genderless Pokémon, like Beldum, and Porygon as well, which was totally new for me even though I have played Pokémon since the first gen up till now.

I wanted to know if you were always able to breed Pokémon without a gender (apart from legendaries), or if that has been introduced in a later gen, because I can remember that that wasn't possible a long time ago >__>

You can breed practically any Pokémon with a Ditto.
Maybe this page on Bulbapedia can explain.
It doesn't really make sense but it has been there since breeding Pokémon became available.

Aha okay, well yeah I just find it so strange because I've always thought it was impossible. Thanks!
