I'm trying to put together a good moveset for slaking, but I'm kind of a total noob... I was thinking Curse since it's low speed anyway, Brick Break to get rid of reflect/light screen, and maybe Hyper Beam (since he only moves every other turn anyway, right?) and something else... or would Endure/Reversal be a better choice? I was also thinking of using double team, or is that a total waste of time? I don't know how well it actually works.

I've also got a sableye, and I was wondering if you guys think it has any chance in competitive battling. I just luff sableye to death, but maybe stats-wise it's not the best choice... I dunno. And if I did use it, do you think toxic is an okay move?

Sableye may have type advantage, but it has horrible stats. It will die to almost anything.

Hyper Beam is a bad.You need to be able to switch in case something you can't handle comes in.Return/Frustration is best.

Slaking isn't that slow. Why use Curse when you can learn Bulk Up?Curse is only for things that can't learn Bulk Up.

Since it has Truant,Endure/Reversal is a waste of time.

    Slaking@Choice Band/Leftovers/King's Rock/Whatever item you choose.
    Brick Break
    Return
    HP flying/Aerial Ace
    Shadow Ball

My Slaking has Double Edge. It kills anything with crappy HP.

A few pwn3d by A few defeated by the DE Slaking.
    Kyogre.
    Charizard
    Medicham
    Marowak
Pikachu <--- Sorry all you Pikachu lovers XD

Double-Edge would go good with Leftovers.

Spike, the link in your sig is illegal. That's what it says when I click on it. :D

Base 100 speed is pretty decent.

    I like Hyper Beam

    Slaking + Maggie Pwns

    Saybleye@ Lefties
    ~Knock Off
    ~Night Shade
    ~Toxic
    ~Recover

This thing is fun, to say the least

What about EQ for slaking? My metagross got 180% pawned by a single Slaking EQ shot. I was humbled greatly at that moment...

    You mean 100%,right?

EQ is cool but, the flying/levitate immunity pokes really screw up something with truant and/or choice band

No, my Gross got killed and probably then some.
I'm not that big on the tourney scene, so I'm not so up w/ the taunt... I just know most of what I know through the hardcore people at my local gaming spot and through knowing the game mechanics pretty much inside out.

Slaking is nowhere near as slow as he looks. A moveset:

    Slaking @ Choice Band/Lefties

    Brick Break
    Aerial Ace/HP Flying
    Hyper Beam/Return/Double-Edge
    Shadow Ball

and if you insist on using Sableye, try this:

    Sableye @ Lefties

    Seismic Toss
    Night Shade
    Toxic
    Recover

Umm... what's the point of having Seismic Toss, and Night Shade on Sableye? That's just a waste of a moveslot. Also, Toxic is a waste of a slot. Its too easy to stop its effect with something like a Healbell Blissey, and it takes too long. Also Revcover and leftovers are pointless, because Sableye will be dead before it does any HP recovering. :P

Toxic takes 6 or 7 turns and S toss is for normals and night shad for everything else

Thank you husk. Because Sableyes stats are lower than average because of his good typing, fixed damage moves and Toxic are more useful than something like Shadow Ball. Nothing is good against everything so dont use one pokemon as your reason why the MS is no good. I dont see you coming up with any movesets so back off.

wow! thanks for everybody's help! ^^ man I'm a moron... I was thinking Bulk up raised defense and special defense, but that's cosmic power, isnt' it?
oh, and what I meant was my slaking has a low-speed nature so I thought it wouldn't be a good thing to rely on. but maybe I'm wrong ^^

So, what I gather from all this is:
    1. Bulk up > Curse
    2. Sableye basically sucks T_T *waah!*
    3. endure/reversal doesn't work with truant
    4. I need to check slaking's moves again... it learns EQ?! o.O; how did I miss that?
    5. I have seriously got to get one of these choice band things

anyway, thanks again for all the help and I hope I didn't start too big of a fight... ^^

    For now.

Hyper Beam+Trunt+Choice Band+Slakings massive attack stat= Incredible Ownage. Shame it says hello Gengar/dusclops :(

Night shade/sesmic toss bust subs strait away, and now everyone has at lesat 2 pokemon on there team knowing sub.....Thats why there found on a lot of the most ou pogeys out there, e.g, blissey.

Thats not true, but u get the point.

I agree with everything except for the suggested set. Use:

    Slaking@Choice Band
    Return/Double Edge
    Focus Punch
    Shadow Ball
    Earthquake

There is absolutely no point in Brick Break when Focus Punch deals much more damage. I also don't see the point in HP Flying when Return does more damage to fighting types than a super effective HP Flying. I wouldn't recommend Slaking to someone who is new to the game, though, because it requires prediction. Return does a lot of damage (Double Edge if you want to do more damage to Weezing, Suicune, and Blissey but I don't recommend it), Focus Punch on the switch to a steel or rock type that would expect to take a Return, Shadow Ball if you predict a switch to a ghost type, and Earthquake if you predict a switch to a steel/rock type but want to ensure you do damage. Mewtwo is right about Hyper Beam. With Choice Band and Truant you are going to be switching a lot, so Hyper Beam is a poor choice because it doesn't let you switch out. If you use Slaking well, you should hardly ever let Truant take its effect. Take care.

Edit: Leftovers doesn't work on Double Edge Slaking. Double Edge is for extra power, but without Choice Band, you will be doing less damage than Return. If you are going with Double Edge, you definitely need Choice Band.
