Is this something you do for all natural disasters or is it just because Japan makes anime and pokemon? Looool.

I can make a list of natural disaster donation funds if you'd like! :D

It was brought up by staff that putting a donation link for the cause would be nice. No point in coming in here and posting about this, sounding like a biggot. First the banner was annoying, and now this.

I don't know where this idea of donating being annoying, or bad, or inconvenient came about, but it's seriously annoying.

Someone posted an Adblock link on how to remove it in the locked post if it's that annoying to you.

Honestly, I did it, just because I don't have the money to donate, and my OCD was really starting to kill me having the giant notice across the top of the screen.

I still don't understand why we can't cancel it, but meh. The only response from the admin was so that new people who didn't see it would get to see it... but if we dismiss it, new people coming on would still get it themselves. Heck, I came back after ~6-8 months of being gone, and I had a very very large list of notices.

However, natural disasters that cause this much damage are posted on many sites. Not just Pokecommunity. Gaiaonline, Facebook, Many Social Forums, etc. have similar donate banners/threads. The same was with Haiti, and Sumatra back in 2005. It's not just because Japan is where Pokemon comes from. Thousands of people died. Hundreds of Thousands are without houses.

I'm assuming it's because 1. Pokemon and Japan are so interconnected, so the disaster is related to the forum, and 2. Because it was in the top 10 earthquakes ever. It's a big deal, there's dangerous levels of radiation, possibility of radioactive rain, completely destroyed homes and countless people dead and missing.

Check here for how to remove it using adblock plus, which is what I did, since I have donated, and I'm 100% certain that seeing the banner every day is not going to spur me to continue to donate due to my own financial difficulties.

The notice is there for all those who wish to support the cause to help those after the disaster in Japan. We're sorry that it may be a bother for some people, but it's there for a good cause and I'm pretty sure you can all live with a simple banner on top the page for one week. It's a shame one would make a big deal about a silly banner, when there are more important matters that can be resolved with the same amount of time you take to complain about it.

If you wish to remove it, then follow the link provided by Toujours.

That said, we just had another thread on this, and to avoid anymore complications...
