Soft reseting for shiny pokemon?

I'm trying to get a shiny mewtwo by soft reseting. Do I need to enter the battle before soft reseting? or will the sprite be shiny before I enter the battle?

You have to keep entering the battle, the spite won't show it. Just a word of warning, expect to be doing it a while. It's a 1 in 8192 chance so...

Not many people want to be trying about 8192 or even more (or less if your lucky) just to get a mewtwo with a different colour
