Mmm, I heard that certain shinies where determined in the beginning of the game. This may only apply to starters.

is this true? i mean i can see how. it would be cool to start with a shiny

Some Pokémon like Creselia, Lati@s, the Legendary dog on FR/LG, and i'm also guessing its the same with Mesprit are determined to be shiny or not either at the start of the game or when they initially start moving around I can't tell you for certain.

    You're wrong on all counts.

Cress and mesprit are determined when you talk to them, so to soft reset for them you have to save in front of them in the cave, talk to them so they start running, then go look for them in the wild, if they're not shiny reset and repeat.

The dogs are determined when you give the sapphire to celio, so just save before you give him the sapphire then do the same as with cress and mesprit.

And the lati's are determined when you watch the tv program after the pokemon league, at least thats the case in emerald, not sure about ru/sa.

Look, fair point but you have no need to put it in such a manner

Also if I am not mistaken I said
or when they initially start moving around
and from what you said that applies to most of them.

I am sorry, i didn't mean for it to sound so rude.

So basically, there are no definate shinies you can find, and havent been since the days of 2nd gen's red Gyara. All pokes have the same odds of being shiny when first seen, and in the case of roamers that never changes.

No, it was only determined by IV's in generation 2. Now it's determined by a RNG and your ID.

its all weird, i sure its not determined by ur ID# and whatnot. its all about luck. there's a 1 in 8,192 chance of battling a shiny, even then the odds r the same. even hatching a shiny has bigger odds.

No it doesn't, hatching random encounters and soft resets all have the same odds, and your id does influence the shiny rate, albeit in a very very small capacity.

Listen to this...I had finally made up my mind to catch a Shiny Rayquaza no matter what happened in my Emerald Version. Everyday when I had free time I would begin to soft reset my game (lets say about 500 times a day). After like 3 weeks a Shiny Rayquaza popped up. By now, I WAS SO USED TO SOFT RESETTING. Right when it appeared I pressed (start, select, A,B) and soft resetted without knowing what I just did. By NOW I WAS ABOUT TO THROW MY FREAKING D.S out the window...I couldn't stop staring at the D.S. Just out of my rage i restarted the game and I clicked on the Rayquaza again. AND WHAT YOU KNOW. Shiny Rayquaza AGAIN. O______O.
