First, if you didn't already know... on the DS there shall be a new Sonic 3D adventure, tentatively titled "Sonic DS"... for obvious reasons.

Though after watching the Gamespot Trailer for it, I'm a little bit concerned about the gameplay of it. The bottom touch-pad type screen seems to have things reading "Slide left" or some designs on it, hard to explain unless you've watched the video... but anyway, it kind of looks like you may have to control Sonic by the use of the touch-pad.

I know Nintendo likes to experiment with new innovative ways to play, but this I think has gone a little bit too far. This may not even be the case, and thats what I'm hoping for. I havent read any news on this matter though, which I probably would have spotted by now...

Anyhoo, Is this confirmed true, or hopefully false? Or is there any news on this subject at all? :\

Dude, this isn't a confirmed game.
What was seen at E3 was a TECH DEMO to show the ruggedness of the touchscreen.
    Not a game.

I don't know if the Sonic E3 Demo was Sonic DS. But according to IGN Sega has announced that Sonic DS is one of the DS games they are working on (along with something called Project Rub, which is just a codename).

Also, I read in an interview that after seeing the Sonic E3 Demo, that they?re thinking of changing the touch screen to one that is more durable. I should probably go and search for that interview, in case some one is doubtful.

Also, jokestr2004, Sonic is from Sega, not Nintendo. Sega can choose to use the touch screen or use the buttons it's their choice.

Okay okay, so I may be very wrong. But riddle me this, why would they make "Sonic DS" a tentative title, and not the actual one, if it were to be only a demonstration? I never saw "(tentative)" after the title "Meowth's Party" for the demonstration of the GCN. The release date even said To Be Announced...

*smacks himself* I knew that! :P

Meowth's Party wasn't even playable. It was just a Technical Demo (video) I believe, much like The Legend of Zelda at SpaceWorld 2000.

EDIT: I found the interview that I mentioned before:

GameSpy: Are you nervous about games like that Sonic game wearing out the screen too quickly?

Sugino: We will make a system that can stand up to that kind of abuse.

Miyamoto: When I saw that, I said to Mr. Naka, 'Maybe we need to come up with some guidelines.'

Sugino: When I first saw it I was a little nervous; but because we saw it at such an early stage, we now realize that there will be this kind of game for the DS and we are able to go work on it so that there will not be any trouble.
