I've decided to work on a second team to change things up. I want to avoid using pokemon I already have on my main team, which includes Heracross, Dragonite, Arcanine, Lanturn, Donphan and Umbreon.

What I was thinking was something along the lines of this...

    Tentacruel
    Starmie
    Charizard
    Raichu
    Absol
and then I dont know. I'm in need of a defensive pokemon. I was thinking Donphan again because hes one of my favorite but I might go with Golem or Rhydon any ideas?

Yes I would highly recommend some sort of defensive mon. Umbreon works fairly well as a mixed wall and if you run a Curse set, you should do better in some of the the tougher battles later in the game. Dragonite is also fairly bulky as well and doesn't require a whole lot of set up to be destructive.

Golem has always been one of my favorite in-game pokes, and despite being slow he can usually take a hit or two and destroy stuff with his good attack stat. It's up to you though I guess :P

i really suggest keeping arcanine and dragonite. they r great. golem is great. nidoking can take a hit 2. and u dont need 2 water types with starmie and tentacruel. gyrados works especially well as a water type. with earthquake dragon dance ice fang and waterfall. electabuzz works better than raichu as an electric type. it can learn brick break and flamethrower but teach it fire punch instead. thats about all i recommend so good luck!
