Special Walls and all that stuff

I hate Roar-Cune.

Well thanks for that piece of enlightening input. =P Anyways, the difference between Probopass' walling opportunities is twofold: first off, Fighting and Ground moves have their strongest moves (Earthquake and Close Combat) on the physical side. Second, Sandstorm's auxiliary effect (Boosting the SDef of all Rock types) makes all the difference. I have to agree that Probopass isn't that good for walling (courtesy of the worst type combination ever. >_<) but it's a decent Skarm trap and can do some special walling while backed by Sandstorm. Fortunately, Electrolevitate covers at least one of the double weaks. It basically gets outshone by Magnezone, though. End of discussion.

I'd personally want some SDef on Suicune if it's going to special wall (As protection from random Thunders while you set up) but EVs aren't my strong suit, so meh...also, since this is 3rd gen you should also remember good old

Regice @ Leftovers
Trait: Clear Body
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Rest
Thunder Wave/Psych Up

So standard it hurts. Psych Up turns it into a beast of a Jynx counter and a general nuisance for CM/Acid Armor abusers. :3 Don't remember the EVs, but it's most likely max HP with the rest in Def and SAtk. Also, Articuno can be a lot of fun, although its type combo puts it at a bit of a disadvantage:

Articuno @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
EVs: Search me. I never get Cuno right. T_T
Ice Beam
Roar/Heal Bell
Rest
Reflect/Sleep Talk

Heal Bell + Sleep Talk = coolness, but it requires pokémon XD. Unfortunately, that flying type means it's got a double Rock weak, which isn't cool at all although Reflect eases that problem a little. :\ Toxic is also a possible filler in there somewhere, depends on what you need it to do. :3

There's barely any difference between the 2 stats on Probo.

I told you to get on topic. I repeat this is not a thread about Probopass, it's a discussion about 3rd generation special walls. Adding a short sentence about how you don't like a Suicune with Roar at the end of your post does not make your post on topic. As for the Probopass matter, Alter Ego has already stated why it's much better as a special wall than a physical wall so let's drop it now. If I see one more off-topic post from you, I'll have no choice but to warn you.

Uh, okay. Thanks to the people who ACTUALLY stayed on topic. It's one thing if you wandered off topic but when both Smarties Kins and I said about a million times this is 3RD GEN. you ignored us. When I woke up and saw 23 responses I thought I'd have an answer to my problems, but didn't. Thanks to the people who actually helped. Here's where I'm at fault: Iforgot to mention I try not to use legendaries. I have an XD game and have caught Zapdos but not the other two. Still, I'd prefer no legends. I think I mentioned earlier my team already has a water type, so I'd prefer not to use mantine. If I used a legend, it woould be articuno as he's my fav legendary bird and strong at that. Would cradily (107 base special defense doubled after amnesia, better than regice at that point) still be a good Special wall? How about meganium? Or venusaur with light screen as an egg move? Just throwing some stuff out there. Respond if you are ACTUALLY responding to this. My sister put makeup and eye shadow on me this morning (I'm a guy) and this doesn't help my sour mood. Thanks again to all who ACTUALLY helped.

I love Regice as a special wall. 200 special defense with a Boltbeam is pretty nice. Average defense too.

Yeah but I'd rather no use legendaries. Besides, the only Regice I have is adamant...groan...Any non-legendary special walls that aren't water type? (wow, that actually narrows it down a lot.) I am still awaiting a response about cradily and if it could work.

Nyu, Cradily can do the trick. :3 I don't think Amnesia is necessary, though. Part of Cradily's appeal is that it can bite back at all those nasty Ice Beamers with Mirror Coat, and since Recover gives it quick HP recovery it can make comebacks like no-one's business. Meh, something like this:

Cradily @ Leftovers
Trait: Suction Cups
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
Rock Slide/Earthquake
Rock Slide/Earthquake/Barrier/Toxic
Mirror Coat/Psych Up
Recover

Mirror Coat and Recover are both bred in from Corsola. Recover at least is a must, and since you want something that can stand up to special attackers Mirror Coat comes strongly recommended. If played right you'll nail one special sweeper right off the bat and probably put up a strong disincentive for the others. A bit of a warning, though: CM sweepers (notably Calmcune) may bite and Cradily isn't too fond of switching into Ice Beams. Snorlax is also a very viable option:

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Trait: Thick Fat
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
Double-Edge
Earthquake/Shadow Ball
Rest
Sleep Talk

It walls much by the same virtues as Blissey: godly HP and decent SDef. Unlike Blissey, this thing packs quite a punch, however. STAB Double-Edge deals downright monstrous damage against unprotected opponents, and EQ - even stabless - is nothing to sneeze at. Use Shadow Ball only if you're paranoid about Gengar. RestStalk turns the recoil into a non-issue and also makes Thick Fat (Ice and Fire resistance is very nice, yes it is) an obvious choice over Immunity on the trait side. This little fellow was my regular special wall back when I still netbattled. :3 Also, note that you can substitute a single 'proper' special wall by having some generally bulky pokémon backed by Light Screen support (Light Screen forry should not be underestimated). Speaking of which, this one could also help:

Claydol @ Leftovers
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
Earthquake
Ice Beam
Light Screen
Explosion/Rest

Rapid Spin is also an option in there somewhere if you've got spiker problems. :3

Thanks for the help. I actually just finished mt new team that still has some of my favorites. I used all the non-probopass advice to come up with a good special wall: CM gardevoir. I think it's a good idea. May be wrong as always.

Here's my Claydol set, cortesy of those who helped in my thread.

Claydol-Leftovers
Earthpower
Ice Beam
Stealth Rock
Rapid Spin

I was desprate for a Steath Rocker. He/she-it, was perfect for the job.

Umm...yeah, this is still a 3rd gen thread, though. =O

As for Gardevoir...well, I wouldn't call it a walling type really. If you get some CMs in it will be able to take special hits quite well, but it's not something you can switch in to take - say - an incoming Thunderbolt or Surf. It can work if you back it up with a random Light Screen, though. ^-^

What about Milotic?

Milotic@Leftovers
Trait: Marvel Scale
Nature: Bold

Surf
Icebeam
Hypnosis/Rest
Recover/Sleep Talk
