I am thinking of training up a Skarmory, and I would like it to have Roar and either Stealth Rock or Spikes.

What are the differences between Stealth Rock and Spikes?
    AND SO
Which would be better for Skarmory, Stealth Rock, Spikes or both?

Well with Spikes you need to lay down three sets to get the full potential of the damage which is 25%. Problem is Pokemon with Levitate or are flying types can avoid it. Another problem is it takes a bit to set up and your opponent can easily send in a counter. Not to mention it can be ruined by a single Rapid Spin.

Stealth Rock has its advantages in the amount of time you set up.
You only need to setup one Stealth Rock. It does hit all Pokemon including fliers but the damage varies according to the type. A Flying type would suffer more damage then a Steel type.

Personally I like Spikes on Skarmory.

Save ur tm for something that doesnt learn spikes :/

I agree. Would Rapid Spin work on Stealth Rock? I learned that when a Poison type hits Toxic Spikes, those spikes dissapear. When a Fllying/Levitate hits regular Spikes, do they dissapear?

Yes Papid Spin works on Stealth Rock. A Pokemon with Flying/Levitate wont make regular Spikes disappear.

stealth rock is so much better. it ruins so many focus sashers, especially gengar, who i absolutely hate as a sasher.

on skarmories, i recommend spikes. but i personally prefer stealth rock myself(easier to set up and ruins focus sasher like samson said).
