Question: Stop the thread jumping to a random post when you open it

    On new threads when I enter it, it takes me to a random post on a random page, even though I have never visited the thread before! I want to see the first post in the first page. Also, once I think it's finished loading, I go to scroll up to select the correct page and just as I'm about to click "page: 1" - oops - the page hadn't finished loading yet and something else on it loads and drags me right back to that random post, so I have to scroll up/down a second time. It does this every single time. Either I scroll right away and get dragged back to the random post, or I have to wait about 20-30 seconds for it to completely finish what it's doing.

    I had this problem in another forum but I found a way to fix it in the CP because there was a setting to set how threads showed posts. I can't find a way to fix it on these forums though.

    ^ If that's in the url, it'll direct you to the post that links to.

    ^ If it starts with a t, it'll direct you straight to the thread.

    If you search recent posts by someone (or search anything for that matter), you'll get directed with the "p=" rather than "t=", same goes for clicking threads in forum index. However, if you go to the forum itself (such as CQ&F) and click any thread, it'll load with "t=" and not direct you to any post.

    I hope that made sense. XD;

    Thanks, take it then there is no way to fix it if I click from the forum index?

    ...nope. It's just a default setting that I don't think Audy can even change. XD

    Btw, *gotonewpost, so...it automatically directs you to that from the index. [You'll see when you hover over the url.] For everything else it's p=. XD;

    Hmm. Maybe if we could recruit a javascript wizard to do a greasemonkey script that changes the p=_ to a t=<thread ID gathered from page while loading>

    Else, we could just have our PHP wizards code a plugin for PC that lets you dictate how this behavior affects where you land when you click a thread from the forum or index view.

    Wouldn't want to trouble anyone, it seems like a minor problem. I can just click on the forum before the thread, only takes an extra few seconds.

    Though, I have a reasonable connection. For others it might be much slower, I'm not sure.
