Are there two different strategy guides because in all the pictures of the new guide it as a vol. 1 on the cover. all i really care about is it having a really good pokedex. can anyone help me out?

Just use Serebii.net if you want Pokedex information. As for a walkthrough, I'm sure GameFAQs or some other site can help there.

Serebii and GameFAQs aren't quite as convenient as a book, which is what I think hes going for.

I'm not sure, I haven't seen any of the books out yet. Maybe you can check out like Prima.com or some other game-book manufacturer.

O_o I haven't seen the 'volume 1' on either cover. Then again, I may not have looked close enough.
There will be two guides, like with all previous games. I've always found that the Nintendo Guide, versus the Prima guide, has more accurate info. Better Pokedex, too.
The only way I'd tell you to buy the Prima guide is if you really wanted a poster, since all their guides seem to come with one.

Prima guide seems to have one; it is 70 pages longer than NintendoPower's, so most likely
But as for the quality of the pokedex, they might not list the base power of the pokemon's stats, they might just give it 5 power bars >=P
if so, that kind of pokedex wouldn't be very useful, so check on serebii for that
otherwise, guidebooks are great for playing the RPG part of Pokemon

ya thanks i appreciate it but ya i want the convinience of a book. i know i kind find it online i just always like a guide. and the most important part to me is the pokedex, i can mostly figure out the game but the guides are good for items and planning.

BradyGames has always had flawed guidebooks. In almost every strategy guide I've bought I've found at least two things wrong. For example, their guide of .hack//G.U. thinks that Adept Rogues equip only twin swords and broadswords, just because Haseo only had access to those two weapon types in volume 1. But I digress. I trust Serebii and GameFAQs more than any official strategy guide.

yea I always used Prima Pokemon guide books they are more helpful then any FAQ on the net because they dont go into detail with a map of what to do
